¹¹ There is a man in your kingdom ^(A)in whom is the spirit of the holy gods.^[a] In the days of your father, ^(B)light and understanding and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods were found in him, and King Nebuchadnezzar, your father—your father the king—^(C)made him chief of the magicians, ^(D)enchanters, Chaldeans, and astrologers,

⁸ At last Daniel came in before me—he who was named ^(A)Belteshazzar after the name of my god, and in whom is ^(B)the spirit of the holy gods^[a]—and I told him the dream, saying, ⁹ “O Belteshazzar, ^(C)chief of the magicians, because I know that ^(D)the spirit of the holy gods is in you and that no ^(E)mystery is too difficult for you, tell me ^(F)the visions of my dream that I saw and their interpretation.

⁴⁷ The king answered and said to Daniel, “Truly, your ^(A)God is God of gods and ^(B)Lord of kings, and ^(C)a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery.” ⁴⁸ Then the king gave Daniel high honors and many great ^(D)gifts, and made him ruler over the whole ^(E)province of Babylon and ^(F)chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon.

¹⁸ This dream I, King Nebuchadnezzar, saw. And you, O ^(A)Belteshazzar, tell me the interpretation, because ^(B)all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation, but you are able, for ^(C)the spirit of the holy gods is in you.”

^11 (A)we dreamed on the same night, he and I, each having a dream with its own interpretation. ¹² A young Hebrew was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard. When we told him, ^(B)he interpreted our dreams to us, giving an interpretation to each man according to his dream. ¹³ And ^(C)as he interpreted to us, so it came about. I was restored to my office, and the baker was hanged.”

^14 (D)Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they ^(E)quickly brought him ^(F)out of the pit. And when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came in before Pharaoh. ¹⁵ And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. ^(G)I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.”

⁹ Behold, I will make those of ^(A)the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie—behold, ^(B)I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and they will learn that ^(C)I have loved you.

Paul and Silas in Prison

¹⁶ As we were going to ^(A)the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had ^(B)a spirit of ^(C)divination and ^(D)brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling.

¹¹ And when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in Lycaonian, ^(A)“The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!”

²² And the people were shouting, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!”
