Daniel 4:12-14

¹²It was covered with leaves
and heavy with fruit—
    enough for all nations.
Wild animals enjoyed its shade,
    birds nested in its branches,
and all creatures on earth
    lived on its fruit.

¹³“While I was in bed, having this vision, a holy angel^[a] came down from heaven ¹⁴and shouted:

‘Chop down the tree
    and cut off its branches;
strip off its leaves
    and scatter its fruit.
Make the animals leave its shade
and send the birds flying
    from its branches.

And all flesh was fed from it.

¹³“I saw in the visions of my head while on my bed, and there was ^(B)a watcher, ^(C)a holy one, coming down from heaven. ¹⁴He cried ^[a]aloud and said thus:

^(D)‘Chop down the tree and cut off its branches,
Strip off its leaves and scatter its fruit.
^(E)Let the beasts get out from under it,
And the birds from its branches.
