⁴⁸ Then the king ^[a](A)promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts, and he made him ruler over the entire ^(B)province of Babylon, and chief ^[b]prefect over all the wise men of Babylon.

⁴⁹ And Daniel made a request of the king, and he ^(A)appointed ^(B)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego over the administration of the province of Babylon, while Daniel was at the king’s ^[a](C)court.

¹¹ There is a ^(A)man in your kingdom in whom is ^[a]a ^(B)spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father, illumination, insight, and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods were found in him. And King Nebuchadnezzar, your father—your father ^[b](C)the king—appointed him chief of the soothsayer priests, sorcerers, Chaldeans, and diviners.

²⁹ Then Belshazzar gave orders, and they ^(A)clothed Daniel with purple and put a necklace of gold around his neck, and issued a proclamation concerning him that he now had authority as the third ruler in the kingdom.

² and over them, three commissioners (of whom ^(A)Daniel was one), so that these satraps would be accountable to them, and that the king would not ^[a]suffer ^(B)loss.
