¹⁸ He urged them to plead for mercy^(A) from the God of heaven^(B) concerning this mystery,^(C) so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

¹⁵ God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord,^[a] the God of your fathers^(A)—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob^(B)—has sent me to you.’

²⁹ “As Your Majesty was lying there, your mind turned to things to come, and the revealer of mysteries showed you what is going to happen.^{(A) 30} As for me, this mystery has been revealed^(B) to me, not because I have greater wisdom than anyone else alive, but so that Your Majesty may know the interpretation and that you may understand what went through your mind.

²¹ At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.^(A) Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.

The Father Revealed in the Son^(A)

²⁵ At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father,^(B) Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.^(C)

²⁰ and said:

¹⁷ To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding^(A) of all kinds of literature and learning.^(B) And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds.^(C)
