Ändens tid
12 "På den tiden skall Mikael träda upp, den store fursten, som står som försvarare för dina landsmän. Det kommer en tid av nöd, som inte har haft sin like ända från den dag då människor blev till, ända till den tiden. Men på den tiden skall alla bland ditt folk bli frälsta som finns uppskrivna i boken. 2 De många[a] som sover i mullen skall vakna, några till evigt liv, andra till förakt och evig skam. 3 De förståndiga skall då lysa som himlavalvets ljus, och de som har fört många till rättfärdighet, som stjärnor, alltid och för evigt.
4 Men du, Daniel, göm dessa ord och försegla denna skrift till ändens tid. Många skall forska i den och kunskapen skall bli stor."
5 När jag, Daniel, såg upp, se, då stod det två andra där, en på flodens ena strand och en på den andra stranden. 6 En av dem sade till mannen som var klädd i linnekläder och som stod ovanför flodens vatten: "Hur länge dröjer det innan änden kommer med dessa märkliga ting?" 7 Jag lyssnade till mannen som var klädd i linnekläder och som stod ovanför flodens vatten, och han lyfte sin högra och sin vänstra hand upp mot himlen och svor vid honom som lever för evigt att efter en tid och tider och en halv tid och när det heliga folkets makt är krossad, då skall allt detta vara fullbordat.
8 Jag hörde detta men förstod det inte, så jag frågade: "Min herre, vad blir slutet på allt detta?" 9 Då sade han: "Gå, Daniel, för dessa ord skall förbli gömda och förseglade till ändens tid. 10 Många skall bli renade och tvagna och luttrade, men de ogudaktiga skall bedriva sin ogudaktighet och ingen ogudaktig skall förstå detta, men de förståndiga skall förstå det. 11 Från den tid då det dagliga offret blir avskaffat och förödelsens styggelse uppställd skall det gå 1 290 dagar. 12 Salig är den som håller ut och hinner fram till 1 335 dagar. 13 Men gå du bort till dess änden kommer. Sedan du har vilat skall du uppstå till din del vid dagarnas ände."

Profetia över tidens slut
12 Då ska Mikael, den mäktige änglafursten som vakar över ditt land, resa sig och strida för er i himlarna mot sataniska makter. Det kommer att bli en tid av ångest för dina landsmän, som ska bli värre än något av alla de lidanden som under årens lopp drabbat dem. Men ändå ska var och en bland ditt folk, som har sitt namn skrivet i boken, uthärda denna tid.
2 Många av dem vilkas kroppar ligger döda och begravna ska stå upp, en del till evigt liv och andra till evigt fördärv.
3 De som är visa ska lysa som solen, och de som vänder många till rättfärdighet ska stråla som stjärnor i evighet.
4 Men du, Daniel, bevara allt detta som en hemlighet! Försegla det, så att det inte kan förstås förrän vid tidens slut, när människor ska resa långt för att öka sin kunskap.'
5 Då upptäckte jag, Daniel, två män, en på vardera sidan om floden.
6 En av dem frågade mannen i linnekläderna, han som nu fanns ovanför floden: Hur länge ska det dröja innan detta lidande tar slut?
7 Han svarade med båda händerna lyfta mot himlen, under det han avlade en ed vid honom som förblir i all evighet, att det inte skulle ta slut förrän tre och ett halvt år efter det att Guds folks makt hade blivit bruten.
8 Jag hörde vad han sa men förstod inte vad han menade, och därför sa jag: Hur kommer alltsammans att sluta?
9 Men han sa: Gå nu, Daniel, för vad jag har sagt kan inte förstås förrän vid tidens slut.
10 Många ska bli renade genom svåra lidanden och förföljelser. Men de ogudaktiga ska fortsätta i sin ogudaktighet, och ingen av dem ska förstå något. Bara de som vill förstå ska kunna fatta innebörden.
11 Från den stund det dagliga offret tagits bort och 'Förödelsens styggelse' blivit uppsatt för att man ska tillbe den, kommer det att gå 1.290 dagar.
12 Lyckliga är de som står ut till den 1335:e dagen!
13 Men gå nu vidare mot slutet av ditt liv och mot din vila, för du ska stå upp igen och få din rättmätiga del av arvet.

12 “At that time Michael,(A) the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress(B) such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book(C)—will be delivered.(D) 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake:(E) some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.(F) 3 Those who are wise[a](G) will shine(H) like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness,(I) like the stars for ever and ever.(J) 4 But you, Daniel, roll up and seal(K) the words of the scroll until the time of the end.(L) Many will go here and there(M) to increase knowledge.”
5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank.(N) 6 One of them said to the man clothed in linen,(O) who was above the waters of the river, “How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?”(P)
7 The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand(Q) and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever,(R) saying, “It will be for a time, times and half a time.[b](S) When the power of the holy people(T) has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.(U)”
8 I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?”
9 He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed(V) until the time of the end.(W) 10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined,(X) but the wicked will continue to be wicked.(Y) None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.(Z)
11 “From the time that the daily sacrifice(AA) is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation(AB) is set up, there will be 1,290 days.(AC) 12 Blessed is the one who waits(AD) for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.(AE)
13 “As for you, go your way till the end.(AF) You will rest,(AG) and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.(AH)”

12 “At that time Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people, will arise.[a] There will be a time of distress such as has never occurred since the beginning of the nation until then.[b] But at that time your people—everyone who is found written in the book—will be delivered. [c] 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake—some to everlasting life, and others to shame and everlasting contempt. [d] 3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavenly expanse. And those who turn many to righteousness will be like the stars forever and ever. 4 But you, Daniel, close up the words and seal the book until the time of the end.[e] Many will run back and forth and knowledge will increase.’
The Final Outcome
5 Then I, Daniel, looked and behold, two others stood there, one on this bank of the river and the one on the other bank of the river. 6 One said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long until the end of the wondrous things?”
7 Then I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, as he raised both his right and left hands toward heaven and swore an oath by Him who lives forever, saying, “It is for a time, times, and a half. Then when the breaking of the power of the holy people comes to an end, all these things will be finished.”
8 Now I heard, but I did not understand. So I said, ‘My Lord, what will be the outcome of these things?’
9 Then he said: “Go your way, Daniel. For the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly. None of the wicked will understand, but the wise will understand.
11 “From the time that the daily burnt offering is taken away, and abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. 12 Happy is the one who keeps waiting, and reaches the 1,335 days. [f] 13 But you, go your way till the end. You will rest and then at the end of days you will arise to receive your portion.”
