12 »In jener Zeit tritt Michael, der große Engelfürst, für dein Volk ein, so wie er es schon immer getan hat. Es wird eine so große Not herrschen wie noch nie seit Menschengedenken. Aber alle aus deinem Volk werden gerettet, deren Name in Gottes Buch aufgeschrieben ist. 2 Viele von denen, die in der Erde ruhen, werden erwachen, die einen zum ewigen Leben, die anderen zu ewiger Schande und Schmach. 3 Die Weisen und Verständigen aber werden so hell strahlen wie der Himmel. Und diejenigen, die vielen Menschen den richtigen Weg gezeigt haben, leuchten für immer und ewig wie die Sterne.
4 Du aber, Daniel, bewahr diese Botschaft sorgfältig auf! Schreib all diese Worte in ein Buch und versiegle es, bis das Ende der Zeit gekommen ist. Viele werden es erforschen[a] und zu immer größerer Erkenntnis gelangen.«
Das Ende der Zeit
5 Dann sah ich zwei andere Engel am Fluss stehen, jeder auf einer Seite des Ufers. 6 Einer von ihnen fragte den Mann, der ein Gewand aus Leinen trug und über dem Wasser stand: »Wie lange dauert es noch, bis diese erstaunlichen Ereignisse vorüber sind?«
7 Der Mann erhob beide Hände zum Himmel und schwor bei Gott, der ewig lebt: »Es dauert noch einen Zeitraum, dann zwei Zeiträume und einen halben Zeitraum[b]. Wenn die Kraft des heiligen Volkes Gottes gebrochen ist, dann kommt alles zu seinem Ziel!«
8 Ich hörte zwar, was der Engel sagte, aber ich konnte es nicht begreifen. Deshalb fragte ich: »Mein Herr, wie wird das Ende aussehen?«
9 Er antwortete: »Geh jetzt, Daniel! Diese Worte sollen verschlossen und versiegelt bleiben, bis das Ende kommt. 10 Gott wird viele Menschen auf die Probe stellen, er wird sie läutern, damit ihr Glaube sich bewährt. Doch alle, die von Gott nichts wissen wollen, werden sich weiterhin gegen ihn auflehnen. Sie werden diese Botschaft nicht verstehen, die Weisen aber werden sie begreifen. 11 Von dem Zeitpunkt an, wenn man die regelmäßigen Opfer abschafft und einen abscheulichen Götzendienst einführt, wird es 1290 Tage dauern. 12 Glücklich schätzen kann sich, wer aushält, bis 1335 Tage vorüber sind!
13 Du aber geh deinen Weg bis zum Ende! Du wirst dich zur Ruhe legen, doch du wirst auferstehen und das himmlische Erbe empfangen, das am Ende der Zeit auf dich wartet.«

12 »En aquel tiempo se levantará Miguel, el gran príncipe(A) que vela sobre[a] los hijos de tu pueblo. Será un tiempo de angustia(B) cual nunca hubo desde que existen las naciones hasta entonces. Y en ese tiempo tu pueblo será librado(C), todos los que se encuentren inscritos en el libro(D). 2 Y muchos de los que duermen en el polvo de la tierra despertarán(E), unos para la vida eterna, y otros para la ignominia, para el desprecio eterno(F). 3 Los entendidos[b] brillarán(G) como el resplandor del firmamento, y los que guiaron a muchos(H) a la justicia, como las estrellas, por toda la eternidad. 4 Pero tú, Daniel, guarda en secreto estas palabras y sella el libro hasta el tiempo del fin(I). Muchos correrán de aquí para allá, y el conocimiento aumentará(J)».
5 Entonces yo, Daniel, miré, y vi que otros dos estaban de pie, uno a este lado del río, y el otro al otro lado del río. 6 Y uno de ellos dijo al hombre vestido de lino(K) que estaba sobre las aguas del río(L): «¿Para[c] cuándo será el fin de estas maravillas(M)?».
7 Y oí al hombre vestido de lino, que estaba sobre las aguas del río, que levantando su mano derecha y su mano izquierda al cielo, juró por Aquel que vive para siempre(N), que será por tres años y medio[d](O). Y cuando se termine la destrucción del poder[e] del pueblo santo, se cumplirán todas estas cosas(P). 8 Yo oí, pero no pude entender. Entonces dije: «Señor mío, ¿cuál será el resultado[f] de estas cosas?».
9 Y él respondió: «Anda, Daniel, porque estas palabras están cerradas y selladas hasta el tiempo del fin(Q). 10 Muchos serán purificados, emblanquecidos y refinados(R). Los impíos procederán impíamente(S), y ninguno de los impíos comprenderá, pero los entendidos[g] comprenderán(T). 11 Y desde el tiempo en que el sacrificio perpetuo sea quitado y puesta la abominación de la desolación[h](U), habrá 1,290 días. 12 Bienaventurado el que espere(V) y llegue a 1,335 días(W). 13 Pero tú, sigue hasta el fin[i]. Descansarás(X) y te levantarás para recibir tu heredad[j](Y) al fin de los días».

12 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.
6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

The Message
The Worst Trouble the World Has Ever Seen
12 1-2 “‘That’s when Michael, the great angel-prince, champion of your people, will step in. It will be a time of trouble, the worst trouble the world has ever seen. But your people will be saved from the trouble, every last one found written in the Book. Many who have been long dead and buried will wake up, some to eternal life, others to eternal shame.
3 “‘Men and women who have lived wisely and well will shine brilliantly, like the cloudless, star-strewn night skies. And those who put others on the right path to life will glow like stars forever.
4 “‘This is a confidential report, Daniel, for your eyes and ears only. Keep it secret. Put the book under lock and key until the end. In the interim there is going to be a lot of frantic running around, trying to figure out what’s going on.’

5-6 “As I, Daniel, took all this in, two figures appeared, one standing on this bank of the river and one on the other bank. One of them asked a third man who was dressed in linen and who straddled the river, ‘How long is this astonishing story to go on?’
7 “The man dressed in linen, who straddled the river, raised both hands to the skies. I heard him solemnly swear by the Eternal One that it would be a time, two times, and half a time, that when the oppressor of the holy people was brought down the story would be complete.
8 “I heard all this plainly enough, but I didn’t understand it. So I asked, ‘Master, can you explain this to me?’
9-10 “‘Go on about your business, Daniel,’ he said. ‘The message is confidential and under lock and key until the end, until things are about to be wrapped up. The populace will be washed clean and made like new. But the wicked will just keep on being wicked, without a clue about what is happening. Those who live wisely and well will understand what’s going on.’

11 “From the time that the daily worship is banished from the Temple and the obscene desecration is set up in its place, there will be 1,290 days.
12 “Blessed are those who patiently make it through the 1,335 days.
13 “And you? Go about your business without fretting or worrying. Relax. When it’s all over, you will be on your feet to receive your reward.”

12 Då träder Mikael fram, den store fursten som beskyddar ditt folk. Det blir en tid av nöd som aldrig funnits sedan folken blev till, ända till den tiden. Men då ska ditt folk räddas, alla som är uppskrivna i boken. 2 De många som sover i jordens mull ska vakna, en del till evigt liv och andra till skam och evig fasa. 3 De insiktsfulla ska lysa som himlens ljus, och de som leder många till rättfärdighet ska stråla som stjärnorna i evigheters evigheter. 4 Men du, Daniel, bevara dessa ord som en hemlighet och försegla boken fram till ändens tid. Många kommer att gå hit och dit, men kunskapen ska öka.”
5 Då såg jag, Daniel, två andra stå där, en på vardera sidan om floden. 6 En av dem frågade mannen i linnekläderna, han som nu fanns ovanför flodens vatten: ”Hur länge ska slutet dröja, innan dessa besynnerliga ting fullbordas?”
7 Jag lyssnade till mannen i linnekläderna, han som fanns ovanför flodens[a] vatten, och med båda händerna lyfta mot himlen avlade han en ed vid honom som lever för evigt: ”Det dröjer ännu en tid, två tider och en halv tid.[b] När det heliga folkets makt är krossad[c], då fullbordas allt detta.”
8 Jag hörde detta men förstod det inte, så jag frågade: ”Min herre, hur kommer alltsammans att sluta?”
9 Han svarade: ”Gå nu, Daniel, för orden ska hållas hemliga och förseglade fram till ändens tid. 10 Många kommer att renas, luttras och förädlas, medan de gudlösa ska fortsätta med sin gudlöshet, utan att förstå något. Bara de insiktsfulla ska förstå det.
11 Från den tid det dagliga offret avskaffas och den vanhelgande vidrigheten blir uppsatt kommer det att gå 1 290 dagar. 12 Lycklig är den som väntar och når fram till 1 335 dagar.
13 Men gå nu vidare mot slutet. Du ska få vila och sedan stå upp till din del vid tidens slut.”
