The Resurrection of the Dead

12 “At that time Michael, the great prince, the protector of your people, shall arise. There shall be a time of anguish such as has never occurred since nations first came into existence. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book.^(A)

²¹ For at that time there will be great suffering, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.^(A)

¹⁹ For in those days there will be suffering, such as has not been from the beginning of the creation that God created until now and never will be.^(A)

¹⁷ The seventh angel poured his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” ¹⁸ And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a violent earthquake, such as had not occurred since people were upon the earth, so violent was that earthquake.^{(A) 19} The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. God remembered great Babylon and gave her the wine cup of the fury of his wrath.^{(B) 20} And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found, ²¹ and huge hailstones, each weighing about a hundred pounds,^[a] dropped from heaven on people, until they cursed God for the plague of the hail, so fearful was that plague.^(C)

²³ Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing infants in those days! For there will be great distress on the earth and wrath against this people; ²⁴ they will fall by the edge of the sword and be taken away as captives among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations, until the times of the nations are fulfilled.^(A)

¹³ But the prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me twenty-one days. So Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, and I left him there with the prince of the kingdom of Persia^[a](A)

²¹ But I am to tell you what is inscribed in the book of truth. There is no one with me who contends against these princes except Michael, your prince.^(A)

Michael Defeats the Dragon

⁷ And war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels fought back,^(A)

¹⁵ and anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
