40 “And at the (A)end time the (B)king of the South will wage war with him, and the (C)king of the North will (D)storm against him with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he will enter countries, (E)overflow them, and pass through. 41 He will also enter the [a](F)Beautiful Land, and many countries will fall; but these will be rescued out of his hand: Edom, (G)Moab, and the foremost of the sons of (H)Ammon. 42 Then he will reach out with his hand against other countries, and the land of Egypt will not escape. 43 But he will [b]gain control over the hidden treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; and (I)Libyans and (J)Ethiopians will follow at his [c]heels. 44 But rumors from the East and from the North will terrify him, and he will go out with great wrath to eliminate and [d]annihilate many. 45 And he will pitch the tents of his royal pavilion between the seas and the beautiful (K)Holy Mountain; yet he will come to his end, and no one will help him.

He will invade countries and sweep through them like a flood.(B) 41 He will also invade the beautiful land,(C) and many will fall. But these will escape from his power: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people[a] of the Ammonites.(D) 42 He will extend his power against the countries, and not even the land of Egypt will escape. 43 He will get control over the hidden treasures of gold and silver and over all the riches of Egypt. The Libyans and Cushites will also be in submission.[b](E) 44 But reports from the east(F) and the north will terrify him, and he will go out with great fury to annihilate and completely destroy many. 45 He will pitch his royal tents between the sea and[c] the beautiful holy mountain,(G) but he will meet his end with no one to help him.
