And now I will tell you the (A)truth. Behold, three more kings are going to arise [a]in Persia. Then a fourth will gain far more riches than all of them; as soon as he becomes strong through his riches, [b]he will stir up the entire empire against the realm of [c](B)Greece. And a (C)mighty king will arise, and he will rule with great authority and (D)do as he pleases. But as soon as he has arisen, his kingdom will be broken up and parceled out (E)toward the (F)four [d]points of the compass, though not to his own descendants, nor according to his authority which he wielded, because his sovereignty will be (G)removed and given to others besides [e]them.

I will now tell you the truth. Persia will have three more kings, but the fourth will be richer than all of them. Once he has become strong through his great riches, he will disturb everyone, including the Greek kingdom. Then a warrior-king will come forward, ruling over a vast empire and doing whatever he wants. But even as he takes control, his kingdom will be broken, divided to the four winds of heaven. It won’t pass to his descendants. No one will rule like he did because his kingdom will be uprooted. It will belong to others, not to these.
