³² With flattery he will corrupt those who have violated the covenant, but the people who know their God will firmly resist^(A) him.

³³ “Those who are wise will instruct^(B) many, though for a time they will fall by the sword or be burned or captured or plundered.^{(C) 34} When they fall, they will receive a little help, and many who are not sincere^(D) will join them. ³⁵ Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined,^(E) purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.

The King Who Exalts Himself

³⁶ “The king will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify himself^(F) above every god and will say unheard-of things^(G) against the God of gods.^(H) He will be successful until the time of wrath^(I) is completed, for what has been determined must take place.^(J)

⁴ But you, Daniel, roll up and seal^(A) the words of the scroll until the time of the end.^(B) Many will go here and there^(C) to increase knowledge.”

⁹ He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed^(A) until the time of the end.^(B)

¹⁰ and find out what pleases the Lord.^{(A) 11} Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness,^(B) but rather expose them.

¹⁶ For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh,^(A) the lust of the eyes,^(B) and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. ¹⁷ The world and its desires pass away,^(C) but whoever does the will of God^(D) lives forever.

Warnings Against Denying the Son

¹⁸ Dear children, this is the last hour;^(E) and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming,^(F) even now many antichrists have come.^(G) This is how we know it is the last hour.
