27 And both these kings' hearts [shall meditate] mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper; for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.
28 And he shall return into his land with great substance; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall practise, and return to his own land.
29 At the set time he shall return, and come towards the south; but not as the former time shall be the latter;

27 Both these kings’ hearts shall be bent on evil, and they shall speak lies at the same table; but it shall not prosper, for the end will still be at the (A)appointed time. 28 While returning to his land with great riches, his heart shall be moved against the holy covenant; so he shall do damage and return to his own land.

27 The two kings, with their hearts bent on evil,(A) will sit at the same table and lie(B) to each other, but to no avail, because an end will still come at the appointed time.(C) 28 The king of the North will return to his own country with great wealth, but his heart will be set against the holy covenant. He will take action against it and then return to his own country.
29 “At the appointed time he will invade the South again, but this time the outcome will be different from what it was before.
