4 Ang pipiliin nila ay mga kabataan na walang kapansanan, makikisig, matatalino, madaling turuan, may malawak na pang-unawa at karapat-dapat maglingkod sa palasyo. Tuturuan din sila ng wika at panitikan ng mga taga-Babilonia. 5 Iniutos ng hari na sila'y paglaanan ng pagkain at alak araw-araw mula sa kanyang sariling pagkain at alak. Tatlong taon silang sasanayin bago maglingkod sa hari. 6 Kabilang sa mga napili ay sina Daniel, Hananias, Misael, at Azarias na pawang nagmula sa lipi ni Juda.

Daniel 1:4-6
New International Version
4 young men without any physical defect, handsome,(A) showing aptitude for every kind of learning,(B) well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king’s palace. He was to teach them the language(C) and literature of the Babylonians.[a] 5 The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine(D) from the king’s table.(E) They were to be trained for three years,(F) and after that they were to enter the king’s service.(G)
6 Among those who were chosen were some from Judah: Daniel,(H) Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.(I)

4 youths without (A)blemish, of good appearance and (B)skillful in all wisdom, endowed with knowledge, understanding learning, and competent to stand in the king's palace, and to (C)teach them the literature and language of the (D)Chaldeans. 5 The king assigned them a daily portion of (E)the food that the king ate, and of (F)the wine that he drank. They were to be educated for (G)three years, and at the end of that time they were to (H)stand before the king. 6 Among these were (I)Daniel, (J)Hananiah, (K)Mishael, and (L)Azariah of the tribe of Judah.
