Daniel[a] distinguished himself above the administrators and satraps because he had an extraordinary spirit,(A) so the king planned to set him over the whole realm.(B) The administrators and satraps, therefore, kept trying to find a charge against Daniel(C) regarding the kingdom. But they could find no charge or corruption,(D) for he was trustworthy, and no negligence or corruption was found in him.

Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.(A) At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges(B) against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent.
