22 (A)it is you, O king, who have grown and become strong. (B)Your greatness has grown and reaches to heaven, (C)and your dominion to the ends of the earth. 23 And because the king saw (D)a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying, (E)‘Chop down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump of its roots in the earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze, in the tender grass of the field, and let him be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till (F)seven periods of time pass over him,’ 24 this is the interpretation, O king: It is a decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king, 25 (G)that you shall be driven from among men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. You shall be made (H)to eat grass like an ox, and you shall be wet with the dew of heaven, and (I)seven periods of time shall pass over you, till (J)you know that the Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will.

22 Your Majesty, you are that tree!(A) You have become great and strong; your greatness has grown until it reaches the sky, and your dominion extends to distant parts of the earth.(B)

23 “Your Majesty saw a holy one,(C) a messenger, coming down from heaven and saying, ‘Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump, bound with iron and bronze, in the grass of the field, while its roots remain in the ground. Let him be drenched with the dew of heaven; let him live with the wild animals, until seven times pass by for him.’(D)

24 “This is the interpretation, Your Majesty, and this is the decree(E) the Most High has issued against my lord the king: 25 You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox and be drenched(F) with the dew of heaven. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High(G) is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes.(H)
