12 Because of this the king was angry and (A)very furious, and (B)commanded that all (C)the wise men of Babylon be destroyed. 13 So the decree went out, and the wise men were about to be killed; and they sought (D)Daniel and his companions, to kill them. 14 Then Daniel replied with prudence and discretion to (E)Arioch, the (F)captain of the king's guard, who had gone out to kill the wise men of Babylon.

12 This made the king so angry and furious(A) that he ordered the execution(B) of all the wise men of Babylon. 13 So the decree was issued to put the wise men to death, and men were sent to look for Daniel and his friends to put them to death.(C)

14 When Arioch, the commander of the king’s guard, had gone out to put to death the wise men of Babylon, Daniel spoke to him with wisdom and tact.
