Daniel’s Prayer for His People

9 It was the first year of the reign of Darius the Mede, the son of Ahasuerus, who became king of the Babylonians.^[a]

11 ¹ I have been standing beside Michael^[a] to support and strengthen him since the first year of the reign of Darius the Mede.)

^31 [a]And Darius the Mede took over the kingdom at the age of sixty-two.

Daniel in the Lions’ Den

6 ^[b]Darius the Mede decided to divide the kingdom into 120 provinces, and he appointed a high officer to rule over each province.

²¹ Daniel remained in the royal service until the first year of the reign of King Cyrus.^[a]

²⁸ So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.^[a]
