⁸ I considered the horns, and behold, ^(A)there came up among them another horn, a little one, ^(B)before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots. And behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and ^(C)a mouth speaking great things.

⁵ And the beast was given ^(A)a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for ^(B)forty-two months. ⁶ It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling,^[a] that is, those who dwell in heaven.

The First Beast

13 And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, ^(A)with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and ^(B)blasphemous names on its heads.

The Second Beast

¹¹ Then ^(A)I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. ¹² It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence,^[a] and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, ^(B)whose mortal wound was healed. ^13 (C)It performs great signs, even ^(D)making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people,

^7 (A)In appearance the locusts were like horses prepared for battle: ^(B)on their heads were what looked like crowns of gold; their faces were ^(C)like human faces,

⁴ who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, ^(A)proclaiming himself to be God.

³⁶ “And the king shall ^(A)do as he wills. ^(B)He shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, ^(C)and shall speak astonishing things against ^(D)the God of gods. ^(E)He shall prosper ^(F)till the indignation is accomplished; for what is decreed shall be done.

⁹ Out of one of them came ^(A)a little horn, which grew exceedingly great toward ^(B)the south, toward the east, and toward ^(C)the glorious land. ^10 (D)It grew great, ^(E)even to the host of heaven. And some of the host ^(F)and some^[a] of ^(G)the stars it threw down to the ground and ^(H)trampled on them. ^11 (I)It became great, even as great as ^(J)the Prince of the host. ^(K)And the regular burnt offering was taken away from him, and the place of his sanctuary was overthrown. ¹² And a host will be given over to it together with the regular burnt offering because of transgression,^[b] and it will throw truth to the ground, and ^(L)it will act and prosper.
