⁷ “After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, ^(A)a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, ^(B)and it had ten horns.

²³ “Thus he said:

^11 (A)He even exalted himself as high as ^(B)the Prince of the host; ^(C)and by him ^(D)the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of ^[a]His sanctuary was cast down.

¹² Because of transgression, ^(A)an army was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast ^(B)truth down to the ground. He ^(C)did all this and prospered.

⁶ Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, ^(A)His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.

⁷ It was granted to him ^(A)to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And ^(B)authority was given him over every ^[a]tribe, tongue, and nation.

¹⁶ He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, ^(A)to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,

¹⁷ and that no one may buy or sell except one who has ^[a]the mark or ^(A)the name of the beast, ^(B)or the number of his name.
