^17 (A)‘These four great beasts are four kings who shall arise out of the earth.

The Second Beast

¹¹ Then ^(A)I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon.

The First Beast

13 And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, ^(A)with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and ^(B)blasphemous names on its heads.

³⁶ Jesus answered, ^(A)“My kingdom ^(B)is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, ^(C)my servants would have been fighting, that ^(D)I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”

¹⁹ He said, “Behold, I will make known to you what shall be at the latter end of ^(A)the indignation, for it refers to ^(B)the appointed time of the end. ²⁰ As for ^(C)the ram that you saw with the two horns, these are the kings of ^(D)Media and Persia. ²¹ And ^(E)the goat^[a] is the king of Greece. And ^(F)the great horn between his eyes is ^(G)the first king. ^22 (H)As for the horn that was broken, in place of which four others arose, four kingdoms shall arise from his^[b] nation, ^(I)but not with his power.

³ And four great beasts ^(A)came up out of the sea, different from one another. ⁴ The first was like a lion and had eagles' wings. Then as I looked its wings were plucked off, and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a man, and the mind of a man was given to it.

³⁷ You, O king, ^(A)the king of kings, to whom ^(B)the God of heaven ^(C)has given the kingdom, the power, and the might, and the glory, ³⁸ and into whose hand he has given, wherever they dwell, the children of man, ^(D)the beasts of the field, and the birds of the heavens, making you rule over them all—you are ^(E)the head of gold. ^39 (F)Another kingdom inferior to you shall arise after you, and yet a third kingdom ^(G)of bronze, ^(H)which shall rule over all the earth. ⁴⁰ And ^(I)there shall be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron, because iron ^(J)breaks to pieces and shatters all things. And like iron that crushes, it shall ^(K)break and crush all these.
