¹⁶ I came near to one of those who stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me and made known to me the interpretation of these things:

¹³ Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in ^(A)white robes, and where did they come from?”

¹⁴ And I said to him, ^[a]“Sir, you know.”

So he said to me, ^(B)“These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and ^(C)washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

⁵ But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, ^(A)the Lion of the tribe of ^(B)Judah, ^(C)the Root of David, has ^(D)prevailed to open the scroll ^(E)and ^[a]to loose its seven seals.”

³ And there was the angel who talked with me, going out; and another angel was coming out to meet him,

⁷ “Thus says the Lord of hosts:

⁸ I saw by night, and behold, ^(A)a man riding on a red horse, and it stood among the myrtle trees in the hollow; and behind him were ^(B)horses: red, sorrel, and white. ⁹ Then I said, ^(C)“My lord, what are these?” So the angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what they are.”

¹⁰ And the man who stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, ^(D)“These are the ones whom the Lord has sent to walk to and fro throughout the earth.”

^11 (E)So they answered the Angel of the Lord, who stood among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have walked to and fro throughout the earth, and behold, all the earth is ^[a]resting quietly.”

⁵ Then I, Daniel, looked; and there stood two others, one on this riverbank and the other on that ^(A)riverbank. ⁶ And one said to the man clothed in ^(B)linen, who was above the waters of the river, ^(C)“How long shall the fulfillment of these wonders be?”

¹¹ And he said to me, “O Daniel, ^(A)man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling.

¹² Then he said to me, ^(B)“Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, ^(C)your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.
