⁵ Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.”^(A)

¹³ And they cannot prove to you the charges they are now making against me.^{(A) 14} However, I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors^(B) as a follower of the Way,^(C) which they call a sect.^(D) I believe everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets,^{(E) 15} and I have the same hope in God as these men themselves have, that there will be a resurrection^(F) of both the righteous and the wicked.^{(G) 16} So I strive always to keep my conscience clear^(H) before God and man.

²⁰ Or these who are here should state what crime they found in me when I stood before the Sanhedrin— ²¹ unless it was this one thing I shouted as I stood in their presence: ‘It is concerning the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial before you today.’”^(A)

⁸ Then Haman said to King Xerxes, “There is a certain people dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom who keep themselves separate. Their customs^(A) are different from those of all other people, and they do not obey^(B) the king’s laws; it is not in the king’s best interest to tolerate them.^(C)

¹⁷ “You are more righteous than I,”^(A) he said. “You have treated me well,^(B) but I have treated you badly.^(C)

⁶ As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”

But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him.^(A) As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”^(B)

⁷ The Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die,^(C) because he claimed to be the Son of God.”^(D)
