²² Therefore, because the king’s command was ^[a]urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego.

^33 (A)And the Egyptians ^(B)urged the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste. For they said, “We shall all be dead.”

¹⁹ But when Herod had searched for him and not found him, he examined the guards and commanded that they should be put to death.

And he went down from Judea to Caesarea, and stayed there.

⁵ Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and ^(A)departed, and went and hanged himself.

² “Behold, I will make Jerusalem ^(A)a cup of ^[a]drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. ^3 (B)And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem ^(C)a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.

²⁴ And the king gave the command, ^(A)and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions—them, ^(B)their children, and their wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den.

¹⁵ he answered and said to Arioch the king’s captain, “Why is the decree from the king so ^[a]urgent?” Then Arioch made the decision known to Daniel.

^7 (A)To them the chief of the eunuchs gave names: ^(B)he gave Daniel the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abed-Nego.
