⁵ The king answered the Chaldeans, “This is a public decree: if you do not tell me both the dream and its interpretation, you shall be torn limb from limb, and your houses shall be laid in ruins.^(A)

²⁹ Therefore I make a decree: Any people, nation, or language that utters blasphemy against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego shall be torn limb from limb and their houses laid in ruins, for there is no other god who is able to deliver in this way.”^(A)

¹¹ Furthermore, I decree that, if anyone alters this edict, a beam shall be pulled out of the house of the perpetrator, who then shall be impaled on it. The house shall be made a dunghill.^(A)

²⁷ Then they demolished the pillar of Baal and destroyed the temple of Baal and made it a latrine to this day.^(A)

¹² Because of this the king flew into a violent rage and commanded that all the wise men of Babylon be destroyed.

³³ Samuel said,

And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the Lord in Gilgal.^(A)

²⁶ Joshua then pronounced this oath, saying,

¹⁶ All of its spoil you shall gather into its public square, then burn the town and all its spoil with fire as a whole burnt offering to the Lord your God. It shall remain a perpetual ruin, never to be rebuilt.^(A)
