¹⁰ Many shall be purified, cleansed, and refined, but the wicked shall continue to act wickedly. None of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand.^(A)

¹¹ Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy.”^(A)

³⁵ Some of the wise shall fall, so that they may be refined, purified, and cleansed,^[a] until the time of the end, for there is still an interval until the time appointed.^(A)

²⁰ The rest of humankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands or give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk.^{(A) 21} And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their prostitution or their thefts.

¹⁰ and every kind of wicked deception for those who are perishing because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.^{(A) 11} For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion, leading them to believe what is false,^{(B) 12} so that all who have not believed the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness will be condemned.^(C)

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we may know him who is true;^[a] and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.^(A)

⁴⁷ Whoever is from God hears the words of God. The reason you do not hear them is that you are not from God.”^(A)

¹⁷ Anyone who resolves to do the will of God will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own.^(A)

²⁵ Then he said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have declared!
