³⁷ He will show no regard for the gods of his ancestors or for the one desired by women, nor will he regard any god, but will exalt himself above them all.

⁴ He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God^(A) or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.^(B)

³ They forbid people to marry^(A) and order them to abstain from certain foods,^(B) which God created^(C) to be received with thanksgiving^(D) by those who believe and who know the truth.

¹⁶ “Son of man, with one blow^(A) I am about to take away from you the delight of your eyes.^(B) Yet do not lament or weep or shed any tears.^(C)

¹¹ if you notice among the captives a beautiful^(A) woman and are attracted to her,^(B) you may take her as your wife.

¹⁶ To the woman he said,

⁵ “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God,^(A) knowing good and evil.”
