²⁴ Suddenly he shall come into the richest parts^[a] of the province and do what none of his predecessors had ever done, lavishing plunder, spoil, and wealth on them. He shall devise plans against strongholds but only for a time.^(A)

⁴ But Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts?^(A)

¹⁰ Thus says the Lord God: On that day thoughts will come into your mind, and you will devise an evil scheme.^(A)

²⁵ And they captured fortress cities and a rich land and took possession of houses filled with all sorts of goods, hewn cisterns, vineyards, olive orchards, and fruit trees in abundance; so they ate and were filled and became fat and delighted themselves in your great goodness.^(A)

⁴ They gave him seventy pieces of silver out of the temple of Baal-berith with which Abimelech hired worthless and reckless fellows who followed him.^(A)
