¹⁶ Then one in human form touched my lips, and I opened my mouth to speak and said to the one who stood before me, “My lord, because of the vision such pains have come upon me that I retain no strength.^(A)

Gabriel Interprets the Vision

¹⁵ When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I tried to understand it. Then someone appeared standing before me, having the appearance of a man,^(A)

⁷ The seraph^[a] touched my mouth with it and said, “Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has departed and your sin is blotted out.”^(A)

⁹ Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me,

²⁷ So I, Daniel, was overcome and lay sick for some days; then I arose and went about the king’s business. But I was dismayed by the vision and did not understand it.^(A)

¹⁷ So he came near where I stood, and when he came, I became frightened and fell prostrate. But he said to me, “Understand, O mortal,^[a] that the vision is for the time of the end.”^(A)

²⁸ Here the account ends. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts greatly terrified me, and my face turned pale, but I kept the matter in my mind.^(A)

Daniel’s Visions Interpreted

¹⁵ As for me, Daniel, my spirit was troubled within me,^[a] and the visions of my head terrified me.^(A)

¹³ and in the midst of the lampstands I saw one like the Son of Man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash across his chest.^(A)
