¹⁶ And behold, ^(A)one in the likeness of the children of man ^(B)touched my lips. Then I opened my mouth and spoke. I said to him who stood before me, “O my lord, by reason of the vision pains have come upon me, and ^(C)I retain no strength.

The Interpretation of the Vision

¹⁵ When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I ^(A)sought to understand it. And behold, there stood before me one having ^(B)the appearance of a man.

⁷ And he ^(A)touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”

^9 (A)Then the Lord put out his hand and ^(B)touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,

²⁷ And ^(A)I, Daniel, was overcome and lay sick for some days. Then I rose and went about the king's business, but I was appalled by the vision ^(B)and did not understand it.

¹⁷ So he came near where I stood. And when he came, ^(A)I was frightened ^(B)and fell on my face. But he said to me, “Understand, ^(C)O son of man, that the vision is for ^(D)the time of the end.”

²⁸ “Here is the end of the matter. ^(A)As for me, Daniel, my ^(B)thoughts greatly alarmed me, ^(C)and my color changed, but ^(D)I kept the matter in my heart.”

Daniel's Vision Interpreted

¹⁵ “As for me, Daniel, my spirit within me^[a] was anxious, and ^(A)the visions of my head alarmed me.

¹³ and in the midst of the lampstands ^(A)one like ^(B)a son of man, ^(C)clothed with a long robe and ^(D)with a golden sash around his chest.
