⁵ And the king appointed for them a daily provision of the king’s delicacies and of the wine which he drank, and three years of training for them, so that at the end of that time they might ^(A)serve before the king.

¹⁹ Then the king ^[a]interviewed them, and among them all none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore ^(A)they served before the king.

⁸ But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself ^(A)with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

^8 (A)Happy are your men and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!

^36 (A)Watch therefore, and ^(B)pray always that you may ^[a]be counted ^(C)worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and ^(D)to stand before the Son of Man.”

The Lord Reassures Jeremiah

¹⁹ Therefore thus says the Lord:

⁷ Happy are your men and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!

³⁰ And as for his ^[a]provisions, there was a ^[b]regular ration given him by the king, a portion for each day, all the days of his life.
