Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream

2 In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams;^(A) his mind was troubled^(B) and he could not sleep.^(C)

²⁸ “This is the end of the matter. I, Daniel, was deeply troubled^(A) by my thoughts,^(B) and my face turned pale,^(C) but I kept the matter to myself.”

¹⁰ The queen,^[a] hearing the voices of the king and his nobles, came into the banquet hall. “May the king live forever!”^(A) she said. “Don’t be alarmed! Don’t look so pale!

⁵ Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote. ⁶ His face turned pale^(A) and he was so frightened^(B) that his legs became weak^(C) and his knees were knocking.^(D)
