19 CHÚA dạy Môi-se và A-rôn: 2 “Đây là một điều khoản trong luật CHÚA ban hành: Người Y-sơ-ra-ên phải chọn một con bò cái tơ màu đỏ, không tì vết, chưa mang ách. 3 Hãy đem con bò đó cho thầy tế lễ Ê-lê-a-sa. Người sẽ dẫn nó ra ngoài trại, và chọc tiết trước mặt người. 4 Thầy tế lễ Ê-lê-a-sa sẽ lấy ngón tay nhúng vào huyết bò, rảy bảy lần hướng về phía Trại Hội Kiến. 5 Thầy tế lễ sẽ trông coi việc thiêu con bò: cả da, thịt, huyết và phân. 6 Thầy tế lễ sẽ lấy cây bách hương, cành bài hương thảo và chỉ đỏ ném vào con bò đang cháy. 7 Sau đó, thầy tế lễ phải giặt áo, tắm rồi mới vào trại và bị ô uế cho đến tối hôm ấy. 8 Người đốt con bò cũng phải giặt quần áo, tắm và bị ô uế cho đến tối hôm ấy.
9 Một người tinh sạch sẽ hốt tro con bò chứa vào một nơi tinh sạch bên ngoài trại. Người Y-sơ-ra-ên sẽ giữ tro này dùng làm nước tẩy uế; con bò đó là tế lễ chuộc tội. 10 Người hốt tro phải giặt áo và bị ô uế cho đến tối hôm ấy. Luật này là luật đời đời, áp dụng cho người Y-sơ-ra-ên cũng như cho ngoại kiều.
11 Ai đụng vào xác người chết phải bị ô uế bảy ngày. 12 Người ấy phải dùng nước tẩy uế tẩy sạch mình vào ngày thứ ba và ngày thứ bảy thì sẽ được sạch. Nếu không tẩy mình như thế, sẽ không được sạch. 13 Người nào đụng vào xác người chết mà không tẩy mình cho sạch, xúc phạm đến Trại Hội Kiến của CHÚA, phải bị trục xuất ra khỏi Y-sơ-ra-ên. Người ấy vẫn bị ô uế vì nước tẩy uế chưa được rảy trên mình.
14 Khi có người chết trong trại, phải áp dụng luật này: Người nào vào trại và người nào ở trong trại ấy đều bị ô uế bảy ngày. 15 Nếu trong trại ấy có bình không đậy nắp, sẽ bị ô uế. 16 Bên ngoài đồng trống, nếu ai đụng vào một người chết vì đâm chém, hoặc đụng vào một người chết tự nhiên, xương người chết hay mồ mả, người ấy sẽ bị ô uế bảy ngày.
17 Muốn tẩy sạch những người này, phải lấy một ít tro của con bò thiêu làm sinh tế chuộc tội bỏ vào một cái bình, rồi lấy nước[a] đổ vào. 18 Một người tinh sạch sẽ lấy cành bài hương thảo nhúng vào bình, rảy nước trên trại, trên tất cả đồ dùng trong trại, trên cả những người ở trong trại đó, và trên những người đã đụng vào xương người chết hay mồ mả, đụng vào người chết vì đâm chém hay chết tự nhiên. 19 Người tinh sạch phải rảy nước trên người ô uế ngày thứ ba và ngày thứ bảy, và vào ngày thứ bảy, việc tẩy uế hoàn tất. Người bị ô uế phải giặt áo, tắm rửa thì tối hôm ấy sẽ được sạch. 20 Nhưng nếu người ô uế không lo tẩy mình, phải bị trục xuất khỏi hội chúng vì đã xúc phạm đến Nơi Thánh của CHÚA. Vì nước tẩy uế không rảy trên người ấy, người ấy không được sạch. 21 Đây là một luật áp dụng vĩnh viễn.
Người rảy nước tẩy uế phải giặt quần áo mình, và người nào đụng vào nước tẩy uế sẽ bị ô uế cho đến tối hôm ấy. 22 Bất kỳ vật gì bị người ô uế đụng vào, đều thành ô uế; và ai đụng vào vật ấy cũng bị ô uế cho đến tối hôm ấy.”

19 Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 2 “This is the [a]ordinance of the law which the Lord has commanded, saying: ‘Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring you a red heifer without [b]blemish, in which there is no (A)defect (B)and on which a yoke has never come. 3 You shall give it to Eleazar the priest, that he may take it (C)outside the camp, and it shall be slaughtered before him; 4 and Eleazar the priest shall take some of its blood with his finger, and (D)sprinkle some of its blood seven times directly in front of the tabernacle of meeting. 5 Then the heifer shall be burned in his sight: (E)its hide, its flesh, its blood, and its offal shall be burned. 6 And the priest shall take (F)cedar wood and (G)hyssop and scarlet, and cast them into the midst of the fire burning the heifer. 7 (H)Then the priest shall wash his clothes, he shall bathe in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp; the priest shall be unclean until evening. 8 And the one who burns it shall wash his clothes in water, bathe in water, and shall be unclean until evening. 9 Then a man who is clean shall gather up (I)the ashes of the heifer, and store them outside the camp in a clean place; and they shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel (J)for the water of [c]purification; it is for purifying from sin. 10 And the one who gathers the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until evening. It shall be a statute forever to the children of Israel and to the stranger who dwells among them.
11 (K)‘He who touches the dead [d]body of anyone shall be unclean seven days. 12 (L)He shall purify himself with the water on the third day and on the seventh day; then he will be clean. But if he does not purify himself on the third day and on the seventh day, he will not be clean. 13 Whoever touches the body of anyone who has died, and (M)does not purify himself, (N)defiles the tabernacle of the Lord. That person shall be cut off from Israel. He shall be unclean, because (O)the water of purification was not sprinkled on him; (P)his uncleanness is still on him.
14 ‘This is the law when a man dies in a tent: All who come into the tent and all who are in the tent shall be unclean seven days; 15 and every (Q)open vessel, which has no cover fastened on it, is unclean. 16 (R)Whoever in the open field touches one who is slain by a sword or who has died, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.
17 ‘And for an unclean person they shall take some of the (S)ashes of the heifer burnt for purification from sin, and [e]running water shall be put on them in a vessel. 18 A clean person shall take (T)hyssop and dip it in the water, sprinkle it on the tent, on all the vessels, on the persons who were there, or on the one who touched a bone, the slain, the dead, or a grave. 19 The clean person shall sprinkle the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day; (U)and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, wash his clothes, and bathe in water; and at evening he shall be clean.
20 ‘But the man who is unclean and does not purify himself, that person shall be cut off from among the assembly, because he has (V)defiled the sanctuary of the Lord. The water of purification has not been sprinkled on him; he is unclean. 21 It shall be a perpetual statute for them. He who sprinkles the water of purification shall wash his clothes; and he who touches the water of purification shall be unclean until evening. 22 (W)Whatever the unclean person touches shall be unclean; and (X)the person who touches it shall be unclean until evening.’ ”

19 And the Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying: 2 This is the statute of the law which the Lord has commanded, saying: Tell the children of Israel that they will bring you a healthy red heifer, which has no blemish, and on which a yoke has never gone, 3 and you will give it to Eleazar the priest, and he will bring it outside the camp, and it will be slaughtered before him. 4 And Eleazar the priest will take from its blood with his finger and sprinkle some of its blood directly before the tent of meeting seven times. 5 Then it will be burned in his sight. Its hide and its flesh and its blood, with her dung, will be burned. 6 And the priest will take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet and throw it into the midst of the burning of the heifer. 7 Then the priest will wash his clothes, and he will bathe his body in water, and afterward he will come into the camp, and the priest will be unclean until evening. 8 He who burns it will wash his clothes in water, and bathe his body in water, and will be unclean until evening.
9 A man who is clean will gather the ashes of the heifer and deposit them outside the camp in a clean place, and it will be guarded for the assembly of the children of Israel for water of purification. It is for purifying from sin. 10 He that gathers the ashes of the heifer will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening, and it will be for the children of Israel and for the foreigner that lives among them, for an eternal statute.
11 He that touches the dead body of any man will be unclean seven days. 12 He will make himself clean on the third day, and on the seventh day he will be clean. But if he does not make himself clean on the third day, then the seventh day he will not be clean. 13 Whoever touches the body of any man that is dead and does not purify himself defiles the tabernacle of the Lord, and that person will be cut off from Israel. Because the water of purification was not sprinkled on him, he will be unclean. His uncleanness is still on him.
14 This is the law, when a man dies in a tent. Each person who comes into the tent and all that is in the tent will be unclean seven days. 15 Every open vessel which has no covering fastened on it is unclean.
16 Whoever in the field touches one that is slain with a sword, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave will be unclean seven days.
17 For an unclean person they will take from the ashes of the burnt sin offering, and running water will be on it in a vessel. 18 A clean person will take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and splash it on the tent, and on all the vessels, and on the people who were there, and on him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave. 19 The clean person will splash on the unclean person on the third day and on the seventh day. And on the seventh day he shall purify himself, wash his clothes, and bathe in water; and he will be clean at evening. 20 But the man who is unclean and does not purify himself, that person will be cut off from among the assembly because he has defiled the sanctuary of the Lord. The water of purification has not been sprinkled on him. He is unclean. 21 It will be an eternal statute to them.
He that sprinkles the water of purification will wash his clothes, and he that touches the water of purification will be unclean until evening. 22 Whatever the unclean person touches will be unclean, and the person that touches it will be unclean until evening.
