⁵ Be wise^(A) in the way you act toward outsiders;^(B) make the most of every opportunity.^{(C) 6} Let your conversation be always full of grace,^(D) seasoned with salt,^(E) so that you may know how to answer everyone.^(F)

¹⁷ But the wisdom that comes from heaven^(A) is first of all pure; then peace-loving,^(B) considerate, submissive, full of mercy^(C) and good fruit, impartial and sincere.^(D)

¹⁸ Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise^(A) by the standards of this age,^(B) you should become “fools” so that you may become wise.
