Not Carnality but Christ
3 If then you were (A)raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, (B)where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the (C)earth. 3 (D)For you died, (E)and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 (F)When Christ who is (G)our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in (H)glory.
5 (I)Therefore put to death (J)your members which are on the earth: (K)fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, (L)which is idolatry. 6 (M)Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon (N)the sons of disobedience, 7 (O)in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.
8 (P)But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who (Q)is renewed in knowledge (R)according to the image of Him who (S)created him, 11 where there is neither (T)Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, (U)but Christ is all and in all.
Character of the New Man
12 Therefore, (V)as the elect of God, holy and beloved, (W)put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 (X)bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 (Y)But above all these things (Z)put on love, which is the (AA)bond of perfection. 15 And let (AB)the peace of God rule in your hearts, (AC)to which also you were called (AD)in one body; and (AE)be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another (AF)in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And (AG)whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Den gamla och den nya människan
3 (A) Om ni nu har uppstått med Kristus, sök då det som är där ovan, där Kristus sitter på Guds högra sida. 2 (B) Tänk på det som är där ovan, inte på det som är på jorden. 3 (C) Ni har ju dött, och ert liv är dolt med Kristus i Gud. 4 (D) När Kristus träder fram, han som är vårt liv[a], då ska också ni träda fram i härlighet tillsammans med honom.
5 (E) Döda därför era jordiska begär: sexuell omoral, orenhet, lusta, ont begär, och girigheten som är avgudadyrkan. 6 (F) Allt sådant gör att Guds vrede drabbar olydnadens barn.[b] 7 (G) Bland dem vandrade också ni en gång, när ni levde i dessa synder.
8 (H) Men nu ska också ni lägga bort allt detta: vrede, ilska, ondska, förtal och fräckheter från er mun. 9 (I) Ljug inte för varandra, ni har ju klätt av er den gamla människan med hennes gärningar 10 (J) och klätt er i den nya människan, som förnyas till rätt kunskap och blir en avbild av sin Skapare. 11 (K) Här är ingen längre grek eller jude, omskuren eller oomskuren, barbar[c], skyt[d], slav eller fri, utan Kristus är allt och i alla.
12 (L) Klä er därför som Guds utvalda, heliga och älskade, i innerlig barmhärtighet, godhet, ödmjukhet, mildhet och tålamod. 13 (M) Ha överseende med varandra och förlåt varandra, om ni har något att anklaga någon för. Så som Herren har förlåtit er ska ni förlåta varandra. 14 (N) Och över allt detta ska ni klä er i kärleken, bandet som förenar till fullkomlig enhet.
15 (O) Låt Kristi frid regera i era hjärtan, den frid ni är kallade till i en och samma kropp. Och var tacksamma. 16 (P) Låt Kristi ord rikligt bo hos er med all sin vishet. Undervisa och förmana varandra med psalmer, hymner och andliga sånger och sjung till Gud med tacksamhet i era hjärtan.[e] 17 (Q) Och allt vad ni gör i ord eller handling, gör det i Herren Jesu namn och tacka Gud Fadern genom honom.

18 (R) Ni hustrur, underordna er[f] era män, för så bör det vara i Herren.
19 (S) Ni män, älska era hustrur och var inte hårda mot dem.
20 (T) Ni barn, lyd era föräldrar i allt, för det är Herrens goda vilja.
21 (U) Ni fäder, reta inte upp era barn så att de tappar modet.
22 (V) Ni tjänare[g], lyd era jordiska herrar i allt, inte som inställsamma ögontjänare utan med uppriktigt hjärta i vördnad för Herren. 23 (W) Vad ni än gör, gör det av hjärtat, som för Herren och inte för människor. 24 Ni vet att det är av Herren ni ska få arvet som lön. Det är Herren Kristus ni tjänar. 25 (X) Den som gör orätt ska få igen den orätt han har gjort, utan partiskhet.

3 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming.[a] 7 In these you once walked, when you lived in them. 8 But now put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and foul talk from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old nature with its practices 10 and have put on the new nature, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 11 Here there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scyth′ian, slave, free man, but Christ is all, and in all.
12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience, 13 forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as you teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Rules for Christian Households
18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.[b] 19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. 22 Slaves, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing the Lord. 23 Whatever your task, work heartily, as serving the Lord and not men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you are serving the Lord Christ. 25 For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.

Forgive as the Lord forgave you.(AE) 14 And over all these virtues put on love,(AF) which binds them all together in perfect unity.(AG)
15 Let the peace of Christ(AH) rule in your hearts, since as members of one body(AI) you were called to peace.(AJ) And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ(AK) dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom(AL) through psalms,(AM) hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.(AN) 17 And whatever you do,(AO) whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks(AP) to God the Father through him.

22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance(AS) from the Lord as a reward.(AT) It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.(AU)
