¹² So, as those who have been ^(A)chosen of God, holy and beloved, ^(B)put on a ^(C)heart of compassion, kindness, ^(D)humility, gentleness and ^[a](E)patience; ^13 (F)bearing with one another, and ^(G)forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; ^(H)just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. ¹⁴ Beyond all these things put on love, which is ^[b](I)the perfect bond of ^(J)unity. ¹⁵ Let ^(K)the peace of Christ ^[c]rule in your hearts, to which ^[d]indeed you were called in ^(L)one body; and ^[e]be thankful. ¹⁶ Let ^(M)the word of ^[f]Christ richly dwell within you, ^[g]with all wisdom ^(N)teaching and admonishing ^[h]one another ^(O)with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, ^(P)singing ^[i]with thankfulness in your hearts to God. ^17 (Q)Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, ^(R)giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

A New Heaven and Earth

¹⁰ But ^(A)the day of the Lord ^(B)will come like a thief, in which ^(C)the heavens ^(D)will pass away with a roar and the ^(E)elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and ^(F)the earth and ^[a]its works will be ^[b]burned up.

¹¹ Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, ^12 (G)looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which ^(H)the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the ^(I)elements will melt with intense heat! ¹³ But according to His ^(J)promise we are looking for ^(K)new heavens and a new earth, ^(L)in which righteousness dwells.

^14 (M)Therefore, ^(N)beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be ^(O)found by Him in peace, ^(P)spotless and blameless, ¹⁵ and regard the ^(Q)patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also ^(R)our beloved brother Paul, ^(S)according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, ¹⁶ as also in all his letters, speaking in them of ^(T)these things, ^(U)in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and ^(V)unstable distort, as they do also ^(W)the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. ¹⁷ You therefore, ^(X)beloved, knowing this beforehand, ^(Y)be on your guard so that you are not carried away by ^(Z)the error of ^(AA)unprincipled men and ^(AB)fall from your own steadfastness, ¹⁸ but grow in the grace and ^(AC)knowledge of our ^(AD)Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. ^(AE)To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

^4 (A)Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! ⁵ Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. ^(B)The Lord is ^[a]near. ^6 (C)Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by ^(D)prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ⁷ And ^(E)the peace of God, which surpasses all ^[b]comprehension, will ^(F)guard your hearts and your ^(G)minds in ^(H)Christ Jesus.
