Colossians 2:4-8
English Standard Version
4 I say this in order (A)that no one may delude you with plausible arguments. 5 For (B)though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your (C)good order and (D)the firmness of your faith in Christ.
Alive in Christ
6 (E)Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 (F)rooted and (G)built up in him and (H)established in the faith, just (I)as you were taught, abounding (J)in thanksgiving.
8 See to it that no one takes you captive by (K)philosophy and (L)empty deceit, according to (M)human tradition, according to the (N)elemental spirits[a] of the world, and not according to Christ.

4 I say this so that no one will mislead you with nice-sounding rhetoric. 5 For although I am physically absent, I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see how stable you are and how firm your faith in the Messiah[a] is.

6 So then, just as you have received the Messiah[b] Jesus the Lord, continue to live dependent on him. 7 For you have been rooted in him and are being built up and strengthened in the faith, just as you were taught, while you continue to be thankful. 8 See to it that no one enslaves you through philosophy and empty deceit according to human tradition, according to the basic principles of the world,[c] and not according to the Messiah,[d]
