²⁰ If with Christ ^(A)you died to the ^(B)elemental spirits of the world, ^(C)why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— ^21 (D)“Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” ²² (^(E)referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to ^(F)human precepts and teachings?

¹⁸ For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor. ¹⁹ For through the law I ^(A)died to the law, so that I might ^(B)live to God. ²⁰ I have been ^(C)crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives ^(D)in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, ^(E)who loved me and ^(F)gave himself for me. ²¹ I do not nullify the grace of God, for ^(G)if righteousness^[a] were through the law, ^(H)then Christ died for no purpose.

By Faith, or by Works of the Law?

3 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? ^(I)It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly ^(J)portrayed as crucified.

⁸ For ^(A)by grace you have been saved ^(B)through faith. And this is ^(C)not your own doing; ^(D)it is the gift of God, ^9 (E)not a result of works, ^(F)so that no one may boast.

¹⁵ For this is the will of God, ^(A)that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.

²³ for ^(A)all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, ^24 (B)and are justified ^(C)by his grace as a gift, ^(D)through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
