² that ^(A)their hearts may be encouraged, being ^(B)knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of ^(C)God's mystery, which is Christ, ^3 (D)in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. ⁴ I say this in order ^(E)that no one may delude you with plausible arguments.

⁸ But even if we or ^(A)an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, ^(B)let him be accursed. ⁹ As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, ^(C)let him be accursed.

¹⁰ For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying ^(D)to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a ^(E)servant^[a] of Christ.

¹¹ And ^(A)he gave the ^(B)apostles, the prophets, the ^(C)evangelists, the ^(D)shepherds^[a] and teachers,^{[b] 12 (E)}to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for ^(F)building up ^(G)the body of Christ, ¹³ until we all attain to ^(H)the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, ^(I)to mature manhood,^[c] to the measure of the stature of ^(J)the fullness of Christ, ¹⁴ so that we may no longer be children, ^(K)tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in ^(L)deceitful schemes.

³ But I am afraid that ^(A)as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts ^(B)will be led astray from a ^(C)sincere and ^(D)pure devotion to Christ. ⁴ For if someone comes and ^(E)proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept ^(F)a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.

Some Will Depart from the Faith

4 Now ^(A)the Spirit expressly says that ^(B)in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to ^(C)deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, ² through the insincerity of ^(D)liars whose consciences are seared,

⁴ But I have this against you, that you have abandoned ^(A)the love you had at first. ⁵ Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do ^(B)the works you did at first. If not, ^(C)I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
