Greeting
1 From Paul, an apostle of Christ Yeshua by God’s will, and from our brother Timothy.
2 To God’s holy and faithful people, our brothers and sisters who are united with Christ in the city of Colossae.
Good will[a] and peace from God our Father are yours!
Paul’s Prayer for the Colossians
3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Yeshua Christ, in our prayers for you. 4 We thank God because we have heard about your faith in Christ Yeshua and your love for all of God’s people. 5 You have these because of the hope which is kept safe for you in heaven. Some time ago you heard about this hope in the Good News which is the message of truth. 6 This Good News is present with you now. It is producing results and spreading all over the world as it did among you from the first day you heard it. At that time you came to know what God’s kindness[b] truly means. 7 You learned about this Good News from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant. He is taking your place here as a trustworthy deacon[c] for Christ 8 and has told us about the love that the Spirit has given you.
9 For this reason we have not stopped praying for you since the day we heard about you. We ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through every kind of spiritual wisdom and insight. 10 We ask this so that you will live the kind of lives that prove you belong to the Lord. Then you will want to please him in every way as you grow in producing every kind of good work by this knowledge about God. 11 We ask him to strengthen you by his glorious might with all the power you need to patiently endure everything with joy. 12 You will also thank the Father, who has made you able to share the light, which is what God’s people inherit.
What God Has Done Through Christ
13 God has rescued us from the power of darkness and has brought us into the kingdom of his Son, whom he loves. 14 His Son paid the price to free us, which means that our sins are forgiven.
15 He is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn of all creation.
16 He created all things in heaven and on earth,
visible and invisible.
Whether they are kings or lords,
rulers or powers—
everything has been created through him and for him.
17 He existed before everything
and holds everything together.
18 He is also the head of the church, which is his body.
He is the beginning,
the first to come back to life
so that he would have first place in everything.
19 God was pleased to have all of himself live in Christ. 20 God was also pleased to bring everything on earth and in heaven back to himself through Christ. He did this by making peace through Christ’s blood sacrificed on the cross.
21 Once you were separated from God. The evil things you did showed your hostile attitude. 22 But now Christ has brought you back to God by dying in his physical body. He did this so that you could come into God’s presence without sin, fault, or blame. 23 This is on the condition that you continue in faith without being moved from the solid foundation of the hope that the Good News contains. You’ve heard this Good News of which I, Paul, became a servant. It has been spread throughout all creation under heaven.
Paul Describes His Work
24 I am happy to suffer for you now. In my body I am completing whatever remains of Christ’s sufferings. I am doing this on behalf of his body, the church. 25 I became a servant of the church when God gave me the work of telling you his entire message. 26 In the past God hid this mystery, but now he has revealed it to his people. 27 God wanted his people throughout the world to know the glorious riches of this mystery—which is Christ living in you, giving you the hope of glory.
28 We spread the message about Christ as we instruct and teach everyone with all the wisdom there is. We want to present everyone as mature Christian people. 29 I work hard and struggle to do this while his mighty power works in me.

1 Pablo(A), apóstol de Jesucristo por[a] la voluntad de Dios(B), y el hermano Timoteo(C), 2 a los santos y fieles hermanos en Cristo[b](D) que están en Colosas: Gracia a ustedes y paz de parte de Dios nuestro Padre(E).
Gratitud de Pablo por los colosenses
3 Damos gracias a Dios(F), el Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo(G), orando siempre por ustedes, 4 pues hemos oído de su fe en Cristo Jesús y del amor(H) que tienen por todos los santos(I), 5 a causa de la esperanza(J) reservada para ustedes en los cielos(K). De esta esperanza ustedes oyeron antes en la palabra de verdad, el[c] evangelio(L) 6 que ha llegado hasta ustedes. Así como en todo el mundo(M) está dando fruto constantemente(N) y creciendo[d], así lo ha estado haciendo también en ustedes, desde el día que oyeron y comprendieron la gracia de Dios en verdad[e](O).
7 Así ustedes lo aprendieron de Epafras(P), nuestro amado consiervo(Q), quien es fiel servidor de Cristo de parte nuestra[f], 8 el cual también nos informó acerca del amor de ustedes en el Espíritu(R).
Pablo ora por los colosenses
9 Por esta razón, también nosotros, desde el día que lo supimos[g](S), no hemos cesado de orar por ustedes(T), pidiendo que sean llenos del conocimiento[h] de Su voluntad en toda sabiduría y comprensión espiritual(U), 10 para que anden como es digno del Señor(V), haciendo en todo(W), lo que le agrada, dando fruto(X) en toda buena obra y creciendo en[i] el conocimiento[j] de Dios. 11 Rogamos que ustedes sean fortalecidos(Y) con todo poder según la potencia de Su gloria, para obtener[k] toda perseverancia y paciencia, con gozo(Z) 12 dando gracias al Padre(AA) que nos ha capacitado para compartir[l] la herencia(AB) de los santos en la Luz(AC).
La persona y la obra de Jesucristo
13 Porque Él nos libró del dominio[m] de las tinieblas(AD) y nos trasladó al reino de Su Hijo amado[n](AE), 14 en quien tenemos redención: el perdón de los pecados(AF). 15 Él es la imagen del Dios invisible(AG), el primogénito[o] de toda creación(AH).
16 Porque en Él fueron creadas todas las cosas, tanto en los cielos como en la tierra(AI), visibles e invisibles; ya sean tronos o dominios o poderes o autoridades(AJ); todo ha sido creado por medio de Él y para Él(AK). 17 Y Él es[p] antes de todas las cosas(AL), y en Él todas las cosas permanecen[q].
18 Él es también la cabeza del cuerpo que es la iglesia(AM). Él es el principio(AN), el primogénito[r] de entre los muertos(AO), a fin de que Él tenga en todo la primacía. 19 Porque agradó al Padre(AP) que en Él habitara toda la plenitud[s](AQ), 20 y por medio de Él reconciliar todas las cosas consigo(AR), habiendo hecho la paz por medio de la sangre de Su cruz, por medio de Él(AS), repito, ya sean las que están en la tierra o las que están en los cielos(AT).
21 Y aunque ustedes antes estaban alejados y eran de ánimo hostil[t](AU), ocupados en malas obras, 22 sin embargo, ahora Dios los ha reconciliado(AV) en Cristo en Su cuerpo de carne(AW), mediante Su muerte, a fin de presentarlos santos, sin mancha e irreprensibles(AX) delante de Él. 23 Esto Él hará si en verdad permanecen en la fe bien cimentados y constantes(AY), sin moverse de la esperanza del evangelio que han oído(AZ), que fue proclamado a toda la creación debajo del cielo(BA), y del cual yo, Pablo, fui hecho[u] ministro(BB).
Cristo en ustedes, la esperanza de gloria
24 Ahora me alegro de mis sufrimientos por ustedes(BC), y en mi carne, completando lo que falta de las aflicciones de Cristo, hago mi parte por Su cuerpo(BD), que es la iglesia. 25 De esta iglesia fui hecho ministro(BE) conforme a la administración[v] de Dios que me fue dada para beneficio de ustedes(BF), a fin de llevar a cabo la predicación de la[w] palabra de Dios, 26 es decir, el misterio que ha estado oculto desde los siglos y generaciones, pero que ahora ha sido manifestado a sus santos(BG). 27 A estos Dios quiso dar a conocer cuáles son las riquezas de la gloria(BH) de este misterio(BI) entre los gentiles, que es Cristo en ustedes(BJ), la esperanza(BK) de la gloria.
28 A Él nosotros proclamamos, amonestando a todos los hombres, y enseñando a todos los hombres(BL) con[x] toda sabiduría(BM), a fin de poder presentar a todo hombre(BN) perfecto en Cristo(BO). 29 Con este fin también trabajo, esforzándome(BP) según Su poder[y] que obra poderosamente[z] en mí(BQ).

Saludo
1 Pablo, apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, junto con el hermano Timoteo, 2 saluda a los del pueblo santo que están en Colosas, fieles hermanos en Cristo. Que Dios nuestro Padre derrame su gracia y su paz sobre ustedes.
Acción de gracias
3 Siempre que oramos por ustedes damos gracias a Dios, el Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. 4 Pues hemos recibido noticias de su fe en Cristo Jesús y del amor que tienen a todo el pueblo santo, 5 animados por la esperanza de lo que a ustedes se les ha reservado en el cielo. De esto ya oyeron hablar al escuchar el mensaje de la verdad contenido en el evangelio 6 que llegó hasta ustedes. Este mensaje está creciendo y dando fruto en todas partes del mundo, igual que ha sucedido entre ustedes desde que oyeron hablar de la bondad de Dios y reconocieron su verdad. 7 Esto les enseñó nuestro querido Epafras, quien ha trabajado con nosotros y en quien ustedes tienen un fiel servidor de Cristo. 8 Él nos ha traído noticias de ustedes y del amor que el Espíritu les inspira.
9 Por esto nosotros, desde el día que lo supimos, no hemos dejado de orar por ustedes y de pedir a Dios que los haga conocer plenamente su voluntad y les dé toda clase de sabiduría y entendimiento espiritual. 10 Así podrán portarse como deben hacerlo los que son del Señor, haciendo siempre lo que a él le agrada, dando frutos de toda clase de buenas obras y creciendo en el conocimiento de Dios. 11 Pedimos que él, con su glorioso poder, los haga fuertes; así podrán ustedes soportarlo todo con mucha fortaleza y paciencia, y con alegría 12 darán gracias al Padre, que los ha capacitado a ustedes para recibir en la luz la parte de la herencia que él dará al pueblo santo. 13 Dios nos libró del poder de las tinieblas y nos llevó al reino de su amado Hijo, 14 por quien tenemos la liberación y el perdón de los pecados.
15 Cristo es la imagen visible de Dios, que es invisible; es su Hijo primogénito, anterior a todo lo creado. 16 En él Dios creó todo lo que hay en el cielo y en la tierra, tanto lo visible como lo invisible, así como los seres espirituales que tienen dominio, autoridad y poder. Todo fue creado por medio de él y para él. 17 Cristo existe antes que todas las cosas, y por él se mantiene todo en orden. 18 Además, Cristo es la cabeza de la iglesia, que es su cuerpo. Él, que es el principio, fue el primero en resucitar, para tener así el primer puesto en todo. 19 Pues en Cristo quiso residir todo el poder divino, 20 y por medio de él Dios reconcilió a todo el universo ordenándolo hacia él, tanto lo que está en la tierra como lo que está en el cielo, haciendo la paz mediante la sangre que Cristo derramó en la cruz.
Consecuencias de la obra salvadora
21 Ustedes antes eran extranjeros y enemigos de Dios en sus corazones, por las cosas malas que hacían, 22 pero ahora Cristo los ha reconciliado mediante la muerte que sufrió en su existencia terrena. Y lo hizo para tenerlos a ustedes en su presencia, santos, sin mancha y sin culpa. 23 Pero para esto deben permanecer firmemente basados en la fe, sin apartarse de la esperanza que tienen por el mensaje del evangelio que oyeron. Éste es el mensaje que se ha anunciado en todas partes del mundo, y que yo, Pablo, ayudo a predicar.
24 Ahora me alegro de lo que sufro por ustedes, porque de esta manera voy completando, en mi propio cuerpo, lo que falta de los sufrimientos de Cristo por la iglesia, que es su cuerpo. 25 Dios ha hecho de mí un servidor de la iglesia, por el encargo que él me dio, para bien de ustedes, de anunciar en todas partes su mensaje, 26 es decir, el designio secreto que desde hace siglos y generaciones Dios tenía escondido, pero que ahora ha manifestado al pueblo santo. 27 A ellos Dios les quiso dar a conocer la gloriosa riqueza que ese designio encierra para todas las naciones. Y ese designio secreto es Cristo, que está entre ustedes y que es la esperanza de la gloria que han de tener.
28 Nosotros anunciamos a Cristo, aconsejando y enseñando a todos en toda sabiduría, para presentarlos perfectos en Cristo. 29 Para esto trabajo y lucho con toda la fuerza y el poder que Cristo me da.

2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
7 As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
8 Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.
9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
