1 Paul, ^(A)an apostle of Christ Jesus ^(B)by the will of God, and Timothy ^(C)our brother,

²¹ So one of the men who have accompanied us during ^(A)all the time that the Lord Jesus ^(B)went in and out among us, ^22 (C)beginning from the baptism of John until the day when ^(D)he was taken up from us—one of these men must become with us ^(E)a witness to his resurrection.”

⁵ And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, ^(A)whom you are persecuting. ⁶ But ^(B)rise and enter the city, and you will be told ^(C)what you are to do.”

¹⁵ But the Lord said to him, “Go, for ^(A)he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name ^(B)before the Gentiles and ^(C)kings and the children of Israel.

¹⁰ And I said, ^(A)‘What shall I do, Lord?’ And the Lord said to me, ‘Rise, and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all that is appointed for you to do.’ ¹¹ And since I could not see because of the brightness of that light, I was led by the hand by those who were with me, and came into Damascus.

¹² “And ^(B)one Ananias, a devout man ^(C)according to the law, ^(D)well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there, ^13 (E)came to me, and standing by me said to me, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight.’ And ^(F)at that very hour I received my sight and saw him. ¹⁴ And he said, ^(G)‘The God of our fathers ^(H)appointed you to know his will, ^(I)to see ^(J)the Righteous One and ^(K)to hear a voice from his mouth; ¹⁵ for ^(L)you will be a witness for him to everyone of what ^(M)you have seen and heard. ¹⁶ And now why do you wait? ^(N)Rise and be baptized and ^(O)wash away your sins, ^(P)calling on his name.’

^17 (Q)“When I had returned to Jerusalem and ^(R)was praying in the temple, I fell into ^(S)a trance ¹⁸ and saw him saying to me, ^(T)‘Make haste and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’ ¹⁹ And I said, ‘Lord, they themselves know that in one synagogue after another ^(U)I imprisoned and ^(V)beat those who believed in you. ²⁰ And when the blood of Stephen ^(W)your witness was being shed, ^(X)I myself was standing by and ^(Y)approving and ^(Z)watching over the garments of those who killed him.’ ²¹ And he said to me, ‘Go, for I will send you ^(AA)far away to the Gentiles.’”

¹⁵ And I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. ¹⁶ But rise and ^(A)stand upon your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, ^(B)to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to you, ^17 (C)delivering you from your people and from the Gentiles—^(D)to whom I ^(E)am sending you ^18 (F)to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from ^(G)the power of Satan to God, that they may receive ^(H)forgiveness of sins and ^(I)a place among those who are sanctified ^(J)by faith in me.’
