Now this I say (A)lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. For (B)though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing [a]to see (C)your good order and the (D)steadfastness of your faith in Christ.

(E)As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, (F)rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding [b]in it with thanksgiving.

Beware lest anyone [c]cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to (G)the tradition of men, according to the (H)basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

Spiritual Fullness in Christ

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,(F) continue to live your lives in him, rooted(G) and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught,(H) and overflowing with thankfulness.

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy,(I) which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces[a] of this world(J) rather than on Christ.
