²⁰ If with Christ ^(A)you died to the ^(B)elemental spirits of the world, ^(C)why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations—

²² (^(A)referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to ^(B)human precepts and teachings? ²³ These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in ^(C)promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are ^(D)of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

¹⁰ For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying ^(A)to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a ^(B)servant^[a] of Christ.

^4 (A)Yet because of false brothers secretly brought in—who ^(B)slipped in to spy out ^(C)our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, ^(D)so that they might bring us into slavery— ⁵ to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that ^(E)the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

Christ Has Set Us Free

5 For ^(A)freedom Christ has ^(B)set us free; ^(C)stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to ^(D)a yoke of ^(E)slavery.
