12 (A)giving thanks[a] to the Father, who has qualified you[b] to share in (B)the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He (C)has delivered us from (D)the domain of darkness and transferred us to (E)the kingdom of (F)his beloved Son, 14 (G)in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

The Preeminence of Christ

15 (H)He is the image of (I)the invisible God, (J)the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by[c] him all things were created, (K)in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether (L)thrones or (M)dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created (N)through him and for him. 17 And (O)he is before all things, and in him all things (P)hold together. 18 And (Q)he is the head of the body, the church. He is (R)the beginning, (S)the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For (T)in him all the (U)fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and (V)through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, (W)making peace (X)by the blood of his cross.

21 (Y)And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, (Z)doing evil deeds, 22 he has now reconciled (AA)in his body of flesh by his death, (AB)in order to present you holy and blameless and (AC)above reproach before him, 23 (AD)if indeed you continue in the faith, (AE)stable and steadfast, not shifting from (AF)the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed (AG)in all creation[d] under heaven, (AH)and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Paul's Ministry to the Church

24 Now (AI)I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh (AJ)I am filling up (AK)what is lacking in Christ's afflictions (AL)for the sake of his body, that is, the church,

The Supremacy of the Son of God

15 The Son is the image(I) of the invisible God,(J) the firstborn(K) over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created:(L) things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;(M) all things have been created through him and for him.(N) 17 He is before all things,(O) and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head(P) of the body, the church;(Q) he is the beginning and the firstborn(R) from among the dead,(S) so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased(T) to have all his fullness(U) dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile(V) to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven,(W) by making peace(X) through his blood,(Y) shed on the cross.

21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies(Z) in your minds(AA) because of[b] your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled(AB) you by Christ’s physical body(AC) through death to present you(AD) holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation(AE) 23 if you continue(AF) in your faith, established(AG) and firm, and do not move from the hope(AH) held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven,(AI) and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.(AJ)

Paul’s Labor for the Church

24 Now I rejoice(AK) in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions,(AL) for the sake of his body, which is the church.(AM)

12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:
