²³ Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,

¹⁷ And whatever you do,^(A) whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks^(B) to God the Father through him.

⁶ Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ,^(A) doing the will of God from your heart. ⁷ Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people,^(B)

⁸ If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.^(A)

²¹ In everything that he undertook in the service of God’s temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered.^(A)

¹⁰ Whatever^(A) your hand finds to do, do it with all your might,^(B) for in the realm of the dead,^(C) where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.^(D)

¹⁵ For it is God’s will^(A) that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.^(B)

¹³ Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority:^(A) whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority,

²² Now that you have purified^(A) yourselves by obeying^(B) the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply,^(C) from the heart.^[a]
