¹⁹ Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.

⁷ Husbands,^(A) in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

²³ The man said,

²⁴ That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united^(D) to his wife, and they become one flesh.^(E)

²¹ Fathers,^[a] do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives,^(A) just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her^(B)

²⁸ In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives^(A) as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. ²⁹ After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church—

³¹ Get rid of^(A) all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.^(B)

³³ However, each one of you also must love his wife^(A) as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

⁹ Enjoy life with your wife,^(A) whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun—all your meaningless days. For this is your lot^(B) in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun.
