⁵ For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit^(A) and delight to see how disciplined^(B) you are and how firm^(C) your faith in Christ^(D) is.

³ For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit.^(A) As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus^(B) on the one who has been doing this. ⁴ So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present,

⁹ Resist him,^(A) standing firm in the faith,^(B) because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.^(C)

Paul’s Longing to See the Thessalonians

¹⁷ But, brothers and sisters, when we were orphaned by being separated from you for a short time (in person, not in thought),^(A) out of our intense longing we made every effort to see you.^(B)

¹³ Be on your guard; stand firm^(A) in the faith; be courageous; be strong.^(B)

⁴⁰ But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly^(A) way.

¹⁷ Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard^(A) so that you may not be carried away by the error^(B) of the lawless^(C) and fall from your secure position.^{(D) 18} But grow in the grace^(E) and knowledge^(F) of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.^(G) To him be glory both now and forever! ¹⁹ We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,^(A)

¹⁴ We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold^(A) our original conviction firmly to the very end.^(B)
