²² which all concern things which perish with the using—^(A)according to the commandments and doctrines of men?

¹³ Therefore the Lord said:

¹⁴ not giving heed to Jewish fables and ^(A)commandments of men who turn from the truth.

^13 (A)Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for ^(B)sexual immorality but ^(C)for the Lord, ^(D)and the Lord for the body.

¹⁸ So He said to them, ^(A)“Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, ¹⁹ because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, ^[a]thus purifying all foods?”

⁸ For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men—^[a]the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do.”

⁹ He said to them, “All too well ^(A)you ^[b]reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition. ¹⁰ For Moses said, ^(B)‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ^(C)‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ ¹¹ But you say, ‘If a man says to his father or mother, ^(D)“Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban”—’ (that is, a gift to God), ¹² then you no longer let him do anything for his father or his mother, ¹³ making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.”

^27 (A)Do not labor for the food which perishes, but ^(B)for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, ^(C)because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

³ He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? ⁴ For God commanded, saying, ^(A)‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ^(B)‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ ⁵ But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, ^(C)“Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— ⁶ then he need not honor his father ^[a]or mother.’ Thus you have made the ^[b]commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. ^7 (D)Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

³⁷ He shall regard neither the ^[a]God of his fathers nor the desire of women, ^(A)nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all.
