Lời Khuyên Về Sự Cám Dỗ Tình Dục
5 Hỡi con ta, hãy chú ý đến sự khôn ngoan ta,
Hãy lắng tai nghe sự sáng suốt của ta;
2 Để con nắm giữ sự thận trọng,
Và môi con gìn giữ sự hiểu biết.
3 Vì môi của người đàn bà lạ[a] tiết ra mật ngọt;
Miệng nó dịu ngọt hơn dầu.
4 Nhưng rốt cuộc đắng như ngải cứu,
Sắc như gươm hai lưỡi.
5 Chân nó đi đến sự chết,
Bước nó dẫn xuống Âm Phủ.
6 Nó không cân nhắc con đường sự sống,
Đường lối nó lầm lạc mà nó không biết.
7 Hỡi các con ta, giờ đây hãy nghe ta;
Chớ từ bỏ những lời của miệng ta.
8 Hãy giữ đường lối con cách xa nó;
Chớ đến gần cửa nhà nó.
9 E rằng con sẽ tiêu phí danh dự[b] con cho những kẻ khác,
Các năm tháng đời con cho kẻ bạo tàn;
10 E những người lạ sẽ hưởng trọn công sức của con,
Và công lao con sẽ vào nhà người xa lạ.
11 Rốt cuộc con sẽ rên siết khi xác thịt
Và thân thể tiêu mòn.
12 Bấy giờ con sẽ nói: “Sao tôi đã ghét sự giáo huấn;
Lòng tôi đã khinh lời quở trách.
13 Tôi đã không vâng lời các thầy giáo;
Tôi đã không lắng tai nghe những người dạy dỗ tôi.
14 Tôi gần như hoàn toàn bị hủy hoại
Ở giữa buổi hội và dân chúng.”[c]
15 Hãy uống nước từ hồ chứa của con;
Và nước chảy từ giếng của con;
16 Lẽ nào các nguồn nước của con chảy ra ngoài đường,
Các dòng suối của con chảy ở nơi phố chợ?
17 Chúng thuộc về riêng con;
Không thể chung với những người khác.
18 Nguyện nguồn nước của con được phước;
Hãy vui thích với người vợ từ thuở thanh xuân;
19 Như con hươu đáng yêu, như con nai duyên dáng;[d]
Nguyện ngực nàng làm con vui thỏa luôn luôn
Và tình yêu nàng làm con say mê mãi mãi.
20 Hỡi con ta, tại sao con say mê người đàn bà lạ?
Tại sao con ôm ấp người đàn bà xa lạ?
21 Vì các đường lối của người ta đều ở trước mắt CHÚA
Và Ngài xem xét mọi lối đi của nó.
22 Kẻ ác sẽ bởi tội lỗi mình sập bẫy;
Và bị các dây tội lỗi mình trói buộc.
23 Nó sẽ chết vì thiếu sự giáo huấn
Và lầm lạc vì quá ngu dại.

5 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
2 That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.
6 Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
7 Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9 Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
12 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
20 And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.
22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

Warning Against Adultery
5 My son,(A) pay attention to my wisdom,
turn your ear to my words(B) of insight,
2 that you may maintain discretion
and your lips may preserve knowledge.
3 For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey,
and her speech is smoother than oil;(C)
4 but in the end she is bitter as gall,(D)
sharp as a double-edged sword.
5 Her feet go down to death;
her steps lead straight to the grave.(E)
6 She gives no thought to the way of life;
her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it.(F)
7 Now then, my sons, listen(G) to me;
do not turn aside from what I say.
8 Keep to a path far from her,(H)
do not go near the door of her house,
9 lest you lose your honor to others
and your dignity[a] to one who is cruel,
10 lest strangers feast on your wealth
and your toil enrich the house of another.(I)
11 At the end of your life you will groan,
when your flesh and body are spent.
12 You will say, “How I hated discipline!
How my heart spurned correction!(J)
13 I would not obey my teachers
or turn my ear to my instructors.
14 And I was soon in serious trouble(K)
in the assembly of God’s people.”(L)
15 Drink water from your own cistern,
running water from your own well.
16 Should your springs overflow in the streets,
your streams of water in the public squares?
17 Let them be yours alone,
never to be shared with strangers.
18 May your fountain(M) be blessed,
and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.(N)
19 A loving doe, a graceful deer(O)—
may her breasts satisfy you always,
may you ever be intoxicated with her love.
20 Why, my son, be intoxicated with another man’s wife?
Why embrace the bosom of a wayward woman?
