12 Người nào yêu sự giáo huấn, yêu tri thức;
Ai ghét sự quở trách là kẻ ngu dại.
2 Người lành nhận được ân huệ từ CHÚA;
Nhưng Ngài lên án kẻ âm mưu quỷ quyệt.
3 Một người không thể nhờ gian ác mà được thiết lập vững chắc;
Nhưng rễ của người công chính sẽ không lay chuyển.
4 Một người vợ đức hạnh là mão triều thiên cho chồng;
Còn người vợ gây sỉ nhục khác nào sự mục nát trong xương người.
5 Tư tưởng của người công chính là công bình;
Nhưng mưu kế của kẻ ác là xảo quyệt.
6 Lời nói của kẻ ác phục kích làm đổ máu;
Nhưng môi miệng người ngay thẳng giải cứu người.
7 Kẻ ác bị lật đổ và nó không còn nữa,
Nhưng nhà người công chính vẫn đứng vững.
8 Một người được khen ngợi nhờ khôn ngoan,
Nhưng lòng gian tà sẽ bị khinh miệt.
9 Thà làm một người tầm thường mà có đầy tớ,
Còn tốt hơn một kẻ tự tôn mà thiếu gạo ăn.
10 Người công chính biết chăm sóc sự sống của súc vật mình;
Còn lòng thương xót của kẻ ác chỉ là tàn bạo.
11 Người nào cày bừa ruộng đất mình sẽ được nhiều thực phẩm;
Còn kẻ theo đuổi chuyện viển vông là kẻ thiếu trí hiểu.
12 Kẻ ác tham muốn miếng mồi của người gian ác;
Nhưng rễ cây người công chính sinh hoa quả.
13 Kẻ ác mắc bẫy vì môi miệng tội lỗi của nó,
Nhưng người công chính thoát khỏi tai họa.
14 Nhờ kết quả của môi miệng, một người được đầy đủ điều tốt lành;
Người ta sẽ được báo đáp tùy công việc tay mình làm.
15 Đường lối của kẻ ngu dại tự cho là đúng theo mắt nó,
Nhưng người khôn ngoan lắng nghe lời cố vấn.
16 Kẻ ngu dại bộc lộ ngay sự tức giận,
Còn người khôn khéo bỏ qua điều mình bị xúc phạm.
17 Nhân chứng chân thật, nói lên điều công chính;
Nhưng kẻ làm chứng gian nói lên sự lừa dối.
18 Lời nói thiếu suy nghĩ như lưỡi gươm đâm thủng,
Nhưng lưỡi người khôn ngoan chữa lành.
19 Môi chân thật bền vững đời đời,
Còn lưỡi gian dối chỉ tồn tại trong chốc lát.
20 Lòng của kẻ âm mưu gian ác có sự dối trá,
Nhưng lòng của người tạo nên hòa giải có sự vui mừng.
21 Người công chính sẽ không gặp tai hại,
Nhưng kẻ ác thì đầy tai họa.
22 CHÚA ghê tởm môi gian dối,
Nhưng người hành động chân thật làm hài lòng Ngài.
23 Người khôn khéo giấu điều mình hiểu biết,
Còn lòng kẻ ngu dại công bố điều ngu xuẩn.
24 Bàn tay người siêng năng sẽ cai trị,
Nhưng kẻ lười biếng sẽ phải lao dịch.
25 Lo lắng làm cho lòng người mệt mỏi,
Nhưng lời lành khiến lòng dạ người ta vui mừng.
26 Người công chính là người hướng đạo cho bạn mình,
Còn con đường của kẻ ác đưa đến lầm lạc.
27 Kẻ lười biếng không muốn nướng thịt thú mình đã săn được,
Nhưng sự siêng năng là gia tài quý báu của một người.[a]
28 Trong con đường công chính có sự sống,
Trên lối ấy không có sự chết.

but whoever hates correction is stupid.(A)
3 No one can be established through wickedness,
but the righteous cannot be uprooted.(D)
4 A wife of noble character(E) is her husband’s crown,
but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.(F)
5 The plans of the righteous are just,
but the advice of the wicked is deceitful.
6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood,
but the speech of the upright rescues them.(G)
8 A person is praised according to their prudence,
and one with a warped(J) mind is despised.
9 Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant
than pretend to be somebody and have no food.
10 The righteous care for the needs of their animals,(K)
but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.
11 Those who work their land will have abundant food,
but those who chase fantasies have no sense.(L)
12 The wicked desire the stronghold of evildoers,
but the root of the righteous endures.
14 From the fruit of their lips people are filled with good things,(O)
and the work of their hands brings them reward.(P)
17 An honest witness tells the truth,
but a false witness tells lies.(V)
19 Truthful lips endure forever,
but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.
20 Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil,
but those who promote peace have joy.(Y)
21 No harm overtakes the righteous,(Z)
but the wicked have their fill of trouble.
24 Diligent hands will rule,
but laziness ends in forced labor.(AF)
25 Anxiety weighs down the heart,(AG)
but a kind word cheers it up.
26 The righteous choose their friends carefully,
but the way of the wicked leads them astray.(AH)
27 The lazy do not roast[a] any game,
but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.
28 In the way of righteousness there is life;(AI)
along that path is immortality.

the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.
