Qaabiil Iyo Haabiil

Ninkiina naagtiisii Xaawa ahayd buu u tegey; wayna uuraysatay, oo Qaabiil bay dhashay, oo waxay tidhi, Wiil baan ku helay Rabbiga caawimaaddiisa. Dabadeedna waxay dhashay walaalkiis Haabiil. Haabiilna wuxuu ahaa adhijir, laakiin Qaabiil wuxuu ahaa beerfale. Maalmo dabadeed waxay noqotay in Qaabiil qurbaan ahaan Rabbiga ugu keenay midhihii dhulka. Haabiilna wuxuu wax uga keenay curadyadii adhigiisa iyo baruurtoodiiba. Rabbiguna wuu eegay Haabiil iyo qurbaankiisii; laakiinse Qaabiil iyo qurbaankiisii Rabbigu ma uu eegin. Qaabiilna aad buu u cadhooday, wejigiisiina wuu madoobaaday. Oo Rabbigu wuxuu ku yidhi Qaabiil, Maxaad u cadhoonaysaa? Maxaase wejigaagu u madoobaaday? Haddaad wax wanaagsan samaysid, sow laguma aqbaleen? Haddaadan wax wanaagsan samaynse, dembi illinkuu kuugu gabbanayaa; doonistiisuna aday noqon doontaa, adiguna waa inaad xukuntid isaga. Qaabiilna wuxuu ku yidhi walaalkiis Haabiil, Ina keen, aynu duurka tagnee. Waxaana dhacday, markii ay duurka joogeen, in Qaabiil walaalkiis Haabiil ku kacay oo dilay isagii. Rabbiguna wuxuu Qaabiil ku yidhi, Walaalkaa Haabiil meeh? Kolkaasuu yidhi, Ma aqaan: ma anigaa ah walaalkay ilaaliyihiisa? 10 Kolkaasaa Ilaah ku yidhi, Maxaad samaysay? Codkii dhiiggii walaalkaa ayaa dhulka iiga dhawaaqayaye. 11 Oo haatan waad ka habaaran tahay dhulkii afkiisa u kala qaaday si uu dhiiggii walaalkaa gacantaada uga helo. 12 Kolkii aad dhulka beeratid, wax badan kuuma dhali doono. Waxaad dhulka ku noqon doontaa mid carcarara oo warwareega. 13 Qaabiilna wuxuu Rabbiga ku yidhi, Taqsiirtaydu waa ka sii badan tahay wax aan qaadi karo. 14 Bal eeg, maanta dhulkaad iga eriday, wejigaagana waan ka qarsoonaan doonaa, waxaanan dhulka ku noqon doonaa mid carcarara oo warwareega; waxaana dhici doonta in kii i arkaaba i dili doono. 15 Oo Rabbigu wuxuu ku yidhi isagii, Sidaas daraaddeed ku alla kii dila Qaabiil, waxaa looga aargudan doonaa toddoba labanlaab. Rabbiguna calaamad buu u sameeyey Qaabiil, si aanu ku alla kii arkaaba u dilin. 16 Qaabiilna Rabbiga hortiisuu ka tegey, oo wuxuu degay dalkii la odhan jiray Nood, oo xagga bari oo Ceeden ku yiil.

17 Qaabiilna naagtiisuu u tegey; wayna uuraysatay, oo waxay dhashay Enoog. Wuxuuna dhisay magaalo, oo magaaladiina wuxuu ku magacaabay magicii wiilkiisii Enoog. 18 Enoogna waxaa u dhashay Ciiraad, Ciiraadna wuxuu dhalay Mexuuya'el, Mexuuya'elna wuxuu dhalay Metuusha'el, Metuusha'elna wuxuu dhalay Lameg. 19 Lamegna wuxuu guursaday laba naagood; mid magaceedu wuxuu ahaa Caadah, tan kalena magaceedu wuxuu ahaa Sillah. 20 Caadahna waxay dhashay Yaabaal: isna wuxuu ahaa aabbihii kuwa teendhooyinka deggan oo xoolaha leh. 21 Magaca walaalkiisna wuxuu ahaa Yuubaal; isna wuxuu ahaa aabbihii kuwa kataaradda iyo biibiilaha garaaca. 22 Sillahna waxay dhashay Tuubalqayin oo ahaa mid tumi jiray alaabtii naxaasta iyo birta ahayd oo dhan; Tuubalqayin walaashiisna waxay ahayd Nacmah. 23 Lamegna wuxuu naagihiisii ku yidhi:

Caadah iyo Sillahay, codkayga maqla;
Lameg naagihiisow, hadalkayga dhegaysta;
Nin baan u dilay dhaawicid uu i dhaawacay aawadeed,
Iyo nin dhallinyar dhufashadii uu wax igu dhuftay aawadeed.
24 Haddii Qaabiil toddoba labanlaab looga aargudan lahaa,
Runtii Lameg waa in toddoba iyo toddobaatan labanlaab looga aar gutaa.

25 Aadanna naagtiisii mar kale ayuu u tegey; waxayna dhashay wiil, magiciisiina waxay u bixisay Seed, iyadoo leh, Ilaah abuur kaluu ii soo dhigay Haabiil meeshiisii; waayo, Qaabiil baa dilay isagii. 26 Seedna waxaa u dhashay wiil, magiciisiina wuxuu u bixiyey Enoos; markaasaa dadkii waxay bilaabeen inay Rabbiga ku baryaan magiciisa.

Cain and Abel

Adam[a] made love to his wife(A) Eve,(B) and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain.[b](C) She said, “With the help of the Lord I have brought forth[c] a man.” Later she gave birth to his brother Abel.(D)

Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil.(E) In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering(F) to the Lord.(G) And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions(H) from some of the firstborn of his flock.(I) The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering,(J) but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.

Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry?(K) Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door;(L) it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.(M)

Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.”[d] While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.(N)

Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”(O)

“I don’t know,(P)” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

10 The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.(Q) 11 Now you are under a curse(R) and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you.(S) You will be a restless wanderer(T) on the earth.(U)

13 Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is more than I can bear. 14 Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence;(V) I will be a restless wanderer on the earth,(W) and whoever finds me will kill me.”(X)

15 But the Lord said to him, “Not so[e]; anyone who kills Cain(Y) will suffer vengeance(Z) seven times over.(AA)” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him. 16 So Cain went out from the Lord’s presence(AB) and lived in the land of Nod,[f] east of Eden.(AC)

17 Cain made love to his wife,(AD) and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was then building a city,(AE) and he named it after his son(AF) Enoch. 18 To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methushael, and Methushael was the father of Lamech.

19 Lamech married(AG) two women,(AH) one named Adah and the other Zillah. 20 Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who live in tents and raise livestock. 21 His brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play stringed instruments(AI) and pipes.(AJ) 22 Zillah also had a son, Tubal-Cain, who forged(AK) all kinds of tools out of[g] bronze and iron. Tubal-Cain’s sister was Naamah.

23 Lamech said to his wives,

“Adah and Zillah, listen to me;
    wives of Lamech, hear my words.
I have killed(AL) a man for wounding me,
    a young man for injuring me.
24 If Cain is avenged(AM) seven times,(AN)
    then Lamech seventy-seven times.(AO)

25 Adam made love to his wife(AP) again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth,[h](AQ) saying, “God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him.”(AR) 26 Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh.(AS)

At that time people began to call on[i] the name of the Lord.(AT)

Cain Murders Abel

The man was intimate with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain. She said, ‘I have had a male child with the Lord’s help.’[a] She also gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel became a shepherd of flocks, but Cain worked the ground. In the course of time Cain presented some of the land’s produce as an offering to the Lord.(A) And Abel also presented an offering – some of the firstborn of his flock and their fat portions.(B) The Lord had regard for Abel and his offering,(C) but he did not have regard for Cain and his offering. Cain was furious, and he looked despondent.

Then the Lord said to Cain, ‘Why are you furious?(D) And why do you look despondent? If you do what is right, won’t you be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.’(E)

Cain said to his brother Abel, ‘Let’s go out to the field.’[b] And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.(F)

Then the Lord said to Cain, ‘Where is your brother Abel? ’

‘I don’t know,’ he replied. ‘Am I my brother’s guardian? ’

10 Then he said, ‘What have you done? Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground!(G) 11 So now you are cursed, alienated from the ground that opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood you have shed.[c] 12 If you work the ground, it will never again give you its yield. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.’(H)

13 But Cain answered the Lord, ‘My punishment[d] is too great to bear! 14 Since you are banishing me today from the face of the earth, and I must hide from your presence and become a restless wanderer on the earth, whoever finds me will kill me.’(I)

15 Then the Lord replied to him, ‘In that case,[e] whoever kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over.’ And he placed a mark(J) on Cain so that whoever found him would not kill him. 16 Then Cain went out from the Lord’s presence and lived in the land of Nod,[f] east of Eden.

The Line of Cain

17 Cain was intimate with his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to Enoch. Then Cain became the builder of a city, and he named the city Enoch after his son. 18 Irad was born to Enoch, Irad fathered Mehujael, Mehujael fathered Methushael, and Methushael fathered Lamech. 19 Lamech took two wives for himself, one named Adah and the other named Zillah. 20 Adah bore Jabal; he was the first[g] of the nomadic herdsmen. 21 His brother was named Jubal; he was the first[h] of all who play the lyre and the flute. 22 Zillah bore Tubal-cain, who made all kinds of bronze and iron tools. Tubal-cain’s sister was Naamah.

23 Lamech said to his wives:

Adah and Zillah, hear my voice;
wives of Lamech, pay attention to my words.
For I killed a man for wounding me,
a young man for striking me.
24 If Cain is to be avenged seven times over,
then for Lamech it will be seventy-seven times!

25 Adam was intimate with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, for she said, ‘God has given[i] me another offspring[j] in place of Abel, since Cain killed him.’ 26 A son was born to Seth(K) also, and he named him Enosh. At that time people began to call on the name of the Lord.(L)
