Pedro cura o mendigo coxo
3 Certa tarde, Pedro e João foram ao templo para a oração, às três horas da tarde. 2 E viram um homem coxo de nascença transportado por outros para ser deixado junto de uma porta do templo, chamada porta Formosa, como acontecia todos os dias, para pedir esmola. 3 Quando Pedro e João iam a passar, o homem pediu-lhes esmola.
4 Eles olharam-no com atenção e Pedro, por fim, disse-lhe: “Olha para nós!” 5 O coxo fitou-os, na esperança da esmola. 6 Mas Pedro continuou: “Não tenho prata nem ouro para te dar! Mas aquilo que tenho te dou: em nome de Jesus Cristo de Nazaré, levanta-te e anda!”
7 E pegando no coxo pela mão direita ajudou-o a levantar-se. Ao fazê-lo, os ossos dos pés e artelhos fortaleceram-se. 8 Erguendo-se de um salto, ficando de pé, o homem começou a caminhar! E andando, saltando e dando louvores a Deus, entrou no templo com eles.
9 Quando o povo o viu andar, o ouviu louvar Deus, 10 e se apercebeu de que era o mesmo pedinte coxo que tantas vezes encontravam na porta Formosa, a surpresa foi enorme. 11 Todos correram ao Alpendre de Salomão, onde se conservava junto de Pedro e João, e não houve quem não ficasse pasmado com aquilo que de tão maravilhoso acontecera.
Pedro discursa no templo
12 Aproveitando a oportunidade, Pedro dirigiu-se à multidão: “Homens de Israel, que tem isto assim de tão espantoso? E porque nos olham como se tivéssemos sido nós que, pelo nosso poder ou santidade, tivéssemos feito com que este homem andasse? 13 Foi o Deus de Abraão, de Isaque, de Jacob e de todos os nossos antepassados quem trouxe glória ao seu servo Jesus através deste ato. Estou a falar daquele a quem rejeitaram perante Pilatos, apesar de este ter decidido pô-lo em liberdade. 14 Mas vocês não queriam liberto esse homem santo e justo; em vez disso, pediram que fosse solto um assassino. 15 Mataram o autor da vida, mas Deus o ressuscitou. Somos testemunhas disso!
16 Foi o nome de Jesus que curou este homem e sabem como dantes era coxo. A fé no nome de Jesus, fé que nos vem de Deus, é que produziu esta cura perfeita.
17 Irmãos, compreendo que aquilo que fizeram a Jesus foi por ignorância e o mesmo se pode dizer dos vossos líderes. 18 Mas Deus estava a dar cumprimento ao que fora predito por intermédio dos profetas, segundo as quais o Cristo teria de padecer todas estas coisas. 19 Agora, porém, arrependam-se e voltem-se para ele, 20 para que vos purifique dos vossos pecados e vos mande tempos de renovação pela presença do Senhor, e para que vos envie Jesus Cristo. 21 Ele deverá continuar no céu até que chegue o tempo de Deus restaurar todas as coisas, de acordo com o que ele declarou desde os tempos antigos, por intermédio dos seus santos profetas. 22 Moisés disse há muito: ‘O Senhor, vosso Deus, levantará entre os vossos irmãos um profeta semelhante a mim. Ouçam tudo o que ele vos disser. 23 Toda a pessoa que não escutar esse profeta perecerá, excluída do povo.’[a]
24 Samuel e todos os profetas que lhe sucederam falaram do que está a acontecer hoje. 25 Vocês são os filhos destes mesmos profetas e estão abrangidos pela aliança que Deus fez aos vossos antepassados, ao dizer a Abraão: ‘Na tua descendência todas as nações da Terra serão abençoadas.’[b] 26 Quando Deus elegeu o seu Servo, enviou-o em primeiro lugar a vocês, homens de Israel, para vos abençoar, desviando-vos das vossas maldades.”

Peter Heals a Lame Beggar
3 One day Peter and John(A) were going up to the temple(B) at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon.(C) 2 Now a man who was lame from birth(D) was being carried to the temple gate(E) called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg(F) from those going into the temple courts. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,(G) walk.” 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping,(H) and praising God. 9 When all the people(I) saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful,(J) and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
Peter Speaks to the Onlookers
11 While the man held on to Peter and John,(K) all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade.(L) 12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,(M) the God of our fathers,(N) has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over(O) to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate,(P) though he had decided to let him go.(Q) 14 You disowned the Holy(R) and Righteous One(S) and asked that a murderer be released to you.(T) 15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead.(U) We are witnesses(V) of this. 16 By faith in the name of Jesus,(W) this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.
17 “Now, fellow Israelites,(X) I know that you acted in ignorance,(Y) as did your leaders.(Z) 18 But this is how God fulfilled(AA) what he had foretold(AB) through all the prophets,(AC) saying that his Messiah would suffer.(AD) 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out,(AE) that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah,(AF) who has been appointed for you—even Jesus. 21 Heaven must receive him(AG) until the time comes for God to restore everything,(AH) as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.(AI) 22 For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you.(AJ) 23 Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from their people.’[a](AK)
24 “Indeed, beginning with Samuel, all the prophets(AL) who have spoken have foretold these days. 25 And you are heirs(AM) of the prophets and of the covenant(AN) God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’[b](AO) 26 When God raised up(AP) his servant, he sent him first(AQ) to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”

3 Now Peter and John went up together (A)to the temple at the hour of prayer, (B)the ninth hour. 2 And (C)a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, (D)to [a]ask alms from those who entered the temple; 3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. 4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.” 5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: (E)In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” 7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8 So he, (F)leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God. 9 (G)And all the people saw him walking and praising God. 10 Then they knew that it was he who (H)sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

11 Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch (I)which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed. 12 So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? 13 (J)The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, (K)glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you (L)delivered up and (M)denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. 14 But you denied (N)the Holy One (O)and the Just, and (P)asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and killed the [b]Prince of life, (Q)whom God raised from the dead, (R)of which we are witnesses. 16 (S)And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
17 “Yet now, brethren, I know that (T)you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers. 18 But (U)those things which God foretold (V)by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. 19 (W)Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, 20 and that He may send [c]Jesus Christ, who was [d]preached to you before, 21 (X)whom heaven must receive until the times of (Y)restoration of all things, (Z)which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since [e]the world began. 22 For Moses truly said to the fathers, (AA)‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. 23 And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ 24 Yes, and (AB)all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also [f]foretold these days. 25 (AC)You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, (AD)‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’ 26 To you (AE)first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, (AF)in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”

(H)In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” 7 And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. 8 And (I)leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. 9 And (J)all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

11 (K)While he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in (L)the portico called Solomon's. 12 And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk? 13 (M)The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, (N)the God of our fathers, (O)glorified his servant[b] Jesus, whom (P)you delivered over and (Q)denied in the presence of Pilate, (R)when he had decided to release him. 14 But you denied (S)the Holy and (T)Righteous One, and (U)asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and you killed (V)the Author of life, (W)whom God raised from the dead.
